Customer Reviews
Great idea!
What a great idea! These come in handy when traveling and you need to take extra insulin along. I get very nervous that we will drop the insulin vial while on vacation and find ourselves short with no way to get more. This gives me a little more confidence when going on extended trips.
great protection for an expensive vial
This provided great protection for the expensive glass vial of insulin. This case should come standard with every vial!
This little insurance policy could save you hundreds!
No, it's not sold by a gecko. But it is definitely an insurance policy. My old insulin case fell off the shelf while I was drawing up a dose. It was only a couple of feet, but the brand new bottle of Lantus shattered. The case was ruined, the smell was awful, and over $100 worth of insulin was lost.
I found these cute little insulin cozies when I came to look for a new case. The short one fits my Novolog bottle, and the tall one fits the Lantus. The material fits the bottles snugly, and provides a thick, dense cushion all the way around. The padding on the bottom is just a little thinner, but the bottle is still well-protected. Hopefully, it'll be a long time before I drop another bottle, but if I do, I'll be in a much better situation.
The colors are bright and make identification of different bottles very easy. (As long as you remember which bottle gets which color...)
It's easy to get bottles back out, too. Just push on that thinner area on the bottom. The bottle moves easily, but stays under control. It won't pop out, but the top will come just far enough that you can get a good grip on it. Also useful if you want to take a quick look to see how much is left inside.
There are only two disadvantages. One is that the cushioning makes the bottles larger. You may need to find a new case. But at least you won't have to worry about them being tossed around and broken if left loose.
The other is the lack of transparency. You have to push part of the bottle out to see how much is left, and you have to pull the whole bottle out if you forget which kind of insulin is inside. A little plastic window might be a nice addition, if they could do it safely and cheaply.
Still, any way you look at it, it's a small price to pay to protect such an expensive, life-saving medicine.
