Amazon.com Product Description
The Sony XDR-S3HD HD Radio receives multiple program streams over a single FM frequency with FM Multicasting. Text based information such as artist name and song title scroll across the LCD display. The easy to see large, full-dot backlit LCD display features adjustable brightness, contrast and display modes. AM is upgraded to FM fidelity, while FM can deliver CD quality sound. It is different from satellite radio because these signals are transmitted from public accessible radio stations. Best of all, no monthly subscription is required. The wood-based cabinet with simulated cherry finish is designed to fit into any decor with style.

Customer Reviews

Great sound, complicated tuning4
This HD radio has exquisite sound. I listen to classical music, and it's just like being at a concert or piano recital.
But the tuning is much too complicated, and the scanning is too hard to stop when you find a station you like.
Why does it have to be so complicated?

Screen contrast defective4
From the moment I plugged in the radio I knew there was a problem with the lcd screen. The screen was visible only set at the most negative level.Sony support was totally useless as they were ignorant of the problem and refused to make a switch unless I first set the unit back. I will be returning this to the dealer for a swap--maybe. I may change my mind at the last minute. Otherwise the radio is excellent, good reception and high quality product

Your search for a table radio stops here. 5
A very cool looking piece of equipment. Looks retro, does the latest in technology. I love the old school LCD screen. The radio works like a charm in-doors, where my Onkyo struggles to pickup channels. Comes with variety of antennas to get the job done. Every thing that you need is included in the package including a remote control.

HD AM stations are crystal clear, i love to hear the channels with any hisses and 'grrrr' sounds. It scans for all the HD stations similar to your High def tv. It can pick up multi-cast channels. Lot of cBS stations have more than one channel in one frequencey... which is very cool. You get lot more content from this radio than your normal radio.

The speakers pack a punch, voices come crystal clear for AM radio and music sounds fantastic. Only complaint is there is no digital output, only headphone output.

As with any other table top, book shelf equipment don't place it right on a flat surface. If the surface is not very sturdy it may sound boomy. Try to use some small speaker legs to solve the problem. The radio built is built very well to avoid resonance, just take care of placement.
