From AudioFile
Aimed towards working 40+ women, this practical advice on dieting and taking good care of oneself comes from a down-to-earth doctor. Dr. Peeke speaks casually, using the word "girlfriend" frequently. Her voice is buoyant, conveying her optimism that all women can have an acceptable body. You can hear her smile when she promises you can have chocolate now and then. She communicates that she knows there are going to be days when only chocolate will do, days when you don't exercise, and days when you have trouble with menopause symptoms, and more. Dr. Peeke's kind tone gives the impression she has empathy for her patients and understands their struggles. A.G.H. © AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine

Comprehensive Life Style Change5
I found Pamela Peek's book to be extremely smart and a comprehensive life time plan for everyday women. If you are looking for an advanced body building book, this book might not be for you. If you are struggling with mid-life weight loss issues, baby weight or are confused about low carb/no carb/high carb or zoning... buy this book, it works! Inside the book is a foods table that takes the guesswork out of "what to eat," while allowing freedom of choice. The exercise schedule is realistic (minimum time in the gym is 30 minutes/6 days a week. And unique to lifestyle fitness books is a chapter that addresses four hormonal milestones and how these milestones affect your body's ability to lose weight (and what you can do about it). Milestone 1: Menstruation to First Pregnancy. 2: The Reproductive Years. 3: Perimonopause and Menopause. 4: Beyond Menopause. On a personal note, I've seen the negative comments posted regarding this book ~ all I can say is that has not been my experience: I'm losing weight, feeling firm, not struggling with hunger pains and recommending the book to family, friends and colleagues.

Body for Life for Women2
The title of this book leads you to believe that it is an extension of the original Body for Life philosophy geared towards women. Unfortunately, the title is the only resemblance to the original program. The book offers no new information and the exercise and diet portions of the book are vague ,generalized and difficult to understand. There are also no photos of women who have used Dr. Peeke's program. The only one's used are from the original book. This even further validates my suspcions that Dr. Peeke wrote this book in an effort to capitalize off the popularity of the original Body for Life. A poor compliment to the original manuscript.

Save your money1
I really dont like this book. THe author says it's the same as the original BFL, but it is not. It's complicated, and sometimes you feel you dont know what to do with all that information. The exercise plan is different than the original ( number of reps) and she could had described the diet in an easier way.
She suggests eating chocolate when you need to and no free days! I dont know how Bill Phillips authorized this book! You are going to lose weight following this diet, but if you want real transformation, go for the original BFL.
