...field-tested by veterans'...a perfect tool for volunteers, camp directors, and anyone who has limited time to prepare a successful message for teens. — YouthWorker
(YouthWorker )
From the Back Cover
These forty field-tested guides from veteran speakers are essential tools and supplements for any youth worker. Each outline includes sidebars with key illustrations, object lessons, video or music clip suggestions, and/or speaker tips. To facilitate application of the message, each outline is followed by dozens of questions for use in small groups. All the outlines are compiled on a companion CD-ROM and are fully indexed.
About the Author
President of Youth Specialties Mark Oestreicher has written or contributed to nearly 30 books in the Youth Ministry field (including best-selling books from earlier in this series: two volumes of Wild Truth Journal for Junior Highers and Middle Schoolers and four volumes of Wild Truth Bible Lessons) and is published in several magazines. Marko also maintains a heavy speaking schedule to teens and adults in the US and abroad. He lives in El Cajon, California, with his wife and two children.
Customer Reviews
I liked this book-
I found this book to be very helpful. As a youth worker, most times I come up with my own talks. However, there are times when I have a block, or I just don't hear from God and I need some ideas. I have actually used some of these talks and the kids love them. (I actually got feedback from them- weird huh?). Also, if I am developing a talk on a similar subject I might use one of the skits, a movie clip, or an illustration from a similar talk in the book. I really like the CD outlines that come with it because you can totally tweak it to fit your group and your talk. I've gotten a lot of use out this book. I think I like this one better than the first. I've been in youth ministry for over 10 yrs now, and I've written a more then a few talks. I've also seen lots of books- some good, lots bad. The truth is, this book really can be quite helpful when you are in a pinch. (you know, running late, tired from the retreat, fill in the blank,...etc)
Unusable
This is a collection of very rough outlines from Youth Specialties celebrities. However, it seems like it means to give them one more book with their names on it rather than to produce worthwhile curriculum for youth. I didn't find this helpful at all.
