Samsung LN46A650 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of ColorSamsung LN46A650 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
Buy used from: $999.12
I spent the most time trying to pick out the perfect HDTV. During this time the price dropped on this dramatically. This set also includes a total of 4 HDMI inputs which again is useful for people that will include a lot of components. The 120Hz really makes a drastic difference. You can hook this HDTV up to the internet for instant weather, stocks, or news updates.
Onkyo HT-S6100 7.1 Channel Receiver and Speaker PackageOnkyo HT-S6100 7.1 Channel Receiver and Speaker Package
Buy new: $549.77
A great high quality HTIB (Home Theater In a Box). Onkyo is a top of the line producer that has made a good quality product for years. Just like every speaker system though, opt for higher grade speaker cables. At least 16 gauge. I really like the multiple HDMI outputs. Useful if you have a number of components that you will hook up to it. (I.E.: Game System, Tivo, PC, DVD/BluRay) A great buy.
Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal RemoteLogitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote
Buy new: $246.00
This is a great universal remote. It feels natural when it rests in your hand, the button layout was well designed. Its not complicated and does a great job. There is no tricky code book to punch codes in. This remote plugs into any Mac/PC and comes with super easy to use program. I have no complaints. I went from 4 complicated remotes to the One.

Buy new: $39.95
Monster Cable is a good company that I have trusted for quite some time now. Their products are a little on the higher side, price wise, but you are getting a higher quality product. If you don't like Monster I would still at least buy some type of surge protect your investment.
PlayStation 3 80 GBPlayStation 3 80 GB
Buy used from: $219.95
The PlayStation 3 will give you the most bang for your buck. You get one of the best Blu-Ray players out on the market as well as a gaming system. I use my PS3 to stream media from my PC, play games, and watch Blu-ray. Note that it operates via BlueTooth technology. With a $80 adapter called the "ps3toothfairy" you can use the Harmony One universal remote to control this.
Xbox 360 Elite 120GB [Old Version]Xbox 360 Elite 120GB [Old Version]
Buy new: $528.51 / Used from: $288.00
Xbox 360 is my main gaming console. While it doesn't support Blu-Ray it does have something that I use all the time. If you have a Netflix account along with a Xbox live account you can stream Netflix through the 360 to your TV. The quality is superb and depending on your internet connection there is little to no loading.
WiiWii
Buy new: $199.99 / Used from: $180.00
I bought the Wii for my girlfriend. It's pretty good for party games and when you want to take a break from all the hard core gaming from the PS3 and/or 360. It does NOT play DVDs or Blu-Ray. Kind of a draw back but the surprising ability to get you addicted makes it up.
