Introduced in 1976 after design collaboration with professional chefs, Four Star knives from J.A. Henckels have proven to be among the most popular kitchen knives in the world. Unique to Four Star at the time was the molded handle permanently bonded to the blade. The lack of seams means increased hygiene, and an excellent grip is provided by the curve between the enhanced bolster and blunt, well-defined heel. The bolster adds superb chopping weight as well as finger protection from the sharp blade. Henckels' new Sigmaforge process constructs each Four Star knife blade, bolster, and full rat-tail tang out of a single piece of high-carbon, no-stain steel for precision balance and strength. The blades undergo Henckels' exclusive Friodur ice-hardening process to increase corrosion resistance and cutting-edge retention, and as a final step are hand-honed until they're ready to slice effortlessly through just about anything. Made in Germany and covered with a lifetime warranty, Four Star knives are dishwasher-safe (indeed, they can be sterilized in an autoclave), though washing and drying by hand is highly recommended for all fine cutlery.
