About the Author
Garrison Keillor is America's favorite storyteller. For more than 30 years as the host of A Prairie Home Companion, he has captivated millions of public radio listeners with his weekly "News from Lake Wobegon" monologues. Keillor is also the author of several books and a frequent contributor to national publications including Time, The New Yorker, and National Geographic, in addition to writing his own syndicated column. He has been awarded a National Humanities Medal from the National Endowment of the Humanities.

From AudioFile
Fans of Garrison Keillor's radio program will love this collection of jokes harvested from his annual Joke Show in April. Sound effects and genuine audience laughter capture the best of the cheerful old-time radio atmosphere. As a comedian, Keillor has a well-honed sense of timing and a facility with the bucolic language of Minnesota, both of which delight his audiences. These tapes would please anyone with a sense of humor or provide a pleasant interlude for listeners of more somber audiobooks. Great Fun5
After listening to just the first side of the first tape (a 2 tape set), I placed 3 gift orders for friends. I saved listening to the rest so I could savor it on my drive to and from work. If you like jokes, you'll really enjoy these tapes. Even oldies and "groaners" are fun when presented in the classic "Praire Home Companion" radio/stage show format. Very fast paced and entertaining, I recommend it highly. Hope there are more to come.

If You Love the Annual Joke Show -- You'll Love the Tape5
This tape provides hours of fun and laughs for the entire family. I've always enjoyed Prairie Home Companion's Annual Joke Show (although Garrison Keillor claims it causes the greatest loss of National Public Radio members of any other show). Now I can bring this annual treat to life whenever I need a good laugh (almost daily). It kept us roaring on a recent car trip. This was probably the first time in history that kids never asked "When are we going to get there." However, it is probably important for me to add this disclaimer: Listening to this tape in the car or while operating heavy machinery could be hazardous to your health. Amazon.com -- thanks for recommending it to me. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this radio program or who needs good laugh.

If laughter is the best medicine, this will cure the sick!5
Wonderful humor -- hundreds of good old jokes, the kind folks used to tell at bars and around office water coolers . . . a great part of the folk heritage of America, and just plain funny .... well told by Garrison Keillor & guests such as Paula Poundstone, Roy Blount, etc. . . . I bought the CD version which I'd recommend, since it's a more stable medium than cassette and this is a "keeper"
