Not really for the 3G or 3GS
This thing is really a 2G dock and barely fits the 3G or 3GS. You really have to push to get it to fit. I had bought this to replace my 2G iPhone dock and received this which was nearly an identical version (but non Apple) and not anywhere close to the shape sold by Apple for the 3G/3GS.

On a positive note, Apple's 2G dock didn't fit my 3GS at all. This one did, but like I said you really have to give it a little push and it fits really really tight.

You get what you pay for, but I was expecting the shape to match the 3G/3GS and it doesn't.

Failed to work after a week
I bought this dock, it has a tight fit for 3GS and needs pushing. It worked for a week and now failed, may be due to the force needed to make contacts with iPhone.

I suggest not to buy this item for 3GS.

Looks Can Be Deceiving
Yeah, it looks like the one from Apple, but it isn't. The fit on my 3Gs was way too tight and the plastic had a petroleum smell. In addition, the connector on the back was mounted upside-down. Also, the unit needs more weight, it's way too light. The company was great though and gave me a full refund so I was only out the cost to ship it back.
