You can use the M32 monitor to conveniently view your heart rate while walking, swimming, biking, cross-country skiing, or any other exercise without disturbing your exercise rhythm. The wristwatch-like monitor features a large display that includes 12/24-hour time of day, alarm, and stopwatch. The transmitter includes the Wearlink Coded function, which eliminates interference from other heart rate monitors. The transmitter's electrodes, which pick up the heart signals, are integrated right into the strap for added flexibility and comfort.

The OwnCal feature shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. It also allows you to set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure. The OwnZone feature helps determine an individual exercise zone, guiding you through an appropriate warm-up routine and automatically determining a safe and effective exercise heart rate zone. OwnZones presets include basic, advanced, light, moderate, hard, and weight.

The M32's visual and audible alarms alert you when you reach your target heart rate zone. The Time in Target Zone feature calculates the amount of total exercise time spent in your personal target zone. You can use this feature together with the Total Exercise Time to determine the effectiveness of your exercise program. About Polar
The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.

Excellent5
This is an excellent heart rate monitor. It has all the basic functions that I need and has the comfortable fabric strap for the WearLink transmitter. It is very easy to use. I set my heart rate zone manually since the Ownzone function has given me some weird settings. During exercise, I can see my heart rate, and it can give an alarm if my heart rate is above or below the zone. After exercise it saves a file that gives me the total exercise time, total time in the zone, average heart rate, calories burned, and % fat burned, total exercise time since the last reset and total calories burned since last reset.

I find it easier to just set a wider heart rate zone of 60% - 90% of maximum heart rate. If I want a light aerobic exercise I just try to keep it above 60%. If I want to work harder, I will get the heart rate higher but slow down if it gets above 90% so I don't over do it.

This is a great way to get back into better physical fitness and to do it safely with some guidance. I highly recommend the book Younger Next Year, which talked about why and how to use a heart rate monitor.

Never misses a beat!5
I had tried many other heart rate monitors before I started doing some research. Once I found this one and read the reviews, I knew I needed to try it. This little gem impresses right out of the box. That's right, the first thing you will notice is that the transmitter is very small, and is a seperate unit. All of the other one's I had tried had the electrodes and transmitter together in a rigid rubber compound. Not this beauty. The electrodes are in the strap and they are about 5 inches long. These will stay connected to your chest no problem. The strap is SOFT and does not annoy you while you work out. You really don't even know it is there, unlike other models I have tried.

I love how it calculates my own Zones for me, computes my calories and will keep track of total calories burned over a long period of time.

My only disappointment is that I should have gone for the upper echelon model that works with 2 users. Between the wife and myself, we will definitely be fighting to use it when we go running!

An Excellent Training Companion - It Will Help you Get in Shape and Stay Fit5
The Polar M32 is simply Awesome. I bough this watch about a year ago for my wife and she loves it.

Once she started using it, she was hooked-up to all the useful information the watch shows during your running, walking, or any kind of training or workout.

Its the perfect complement to your desire to get in shape, improve your health or competitive level.

The watch is easy to use. The transmitter that comes with this model is better than the one that comes with other models, since you can replace the battery when it runs out (with the other model you have to buy a new transmitter, since it is sealed).

As soon as you star training and exercising with this magnificent watch, you feel as if you have a coach or a training partner with you.

If you are an athlete, an enthusiastic runner, a hobbyist, or just conscious about your shape and health, you will definitely love this watch. She does. I own the s625x running computer from Polar and I love it to.

In my case, when I bought my first Polar wrist watch, about six years ago, I also bought the book "Heart rate monitor training for the complete idiot". I was looking for an introductory reference on the use of heart rate monitors for general fitness improvements, and wasn't disappointed at all, since what I learned really worked out for me: Armed with my Polar I was able to drop more than 200 lbs in about eight months, and the heart rate monitor training has helped me keep those lbs off for over six years. Not only I went from size 44 to size 32 pants, but also obtained substantial benefits that included weight control, cardiovascular improvements, lowered blood pressure, and improved muscular-skeletal strength and flexibility, but also the myriad of mental and psychological benefits derived from being in the best shape of my life.

The book taught me how to calculate the most important parameters for heart rate monitor training: Maximum Heart Rate, Resting Heart Rate, the Recovery Ceiling, and the Threshold Flour. When I first started training with the heart rate monitor I was unable to jog even for five uninterrupted minutes without gasping for air. After a few months of following one of the training principles lay out in the book (The Hard/Easy Principle): alternating hard training days with easy training days, I was able to go jogging for 90 uninterrupted minutes six days a week.
