Top of the line
Guy Mitchell had a string of hits through the 50s with his best known tune, the massive number one hit, "Singing The Blues" sitting on top of the charts for ten weeks in 1956. An accomplishment made even more amazing in that Marty Robbins' version made it into the top 20 at the same time. Mitchell hit the top again in 1958 with the catchy "Heartaches By The Number". In between he had several charted tunes before he quit Columbia Records and dropped off the pop charts by 1961. This collection of his Columbia recordings comes from Richard Weize's Bear Family Records in Germany. While pricy, this is a top-quality, generous 25-track compilation with the best sound available for these tracks. Tracks 1,5,7-9 are in stereo with the remainder in mono. As has come to be expected from Bear Family product, this disc comes with a 24-page booklet with a detailed musical history and complete discography. An outstanding CD - far superior to most anything else on the market for Mitchell's recordings.
All The Hits Are Here
The Guy Mitchell hits from the mid-50's are here. If you're a fan of his, this one is for you.
At last a cd you can hear
It was really good to be able to hear the words of the songs and not muzzy incoherent squawking.
