Customer Reviews

Just about sums up Johnny Tillotson's golden years.5
This album captures the essence of the musical career of Johnny Tillotson during the Fifties and Sixties.

Best cuts are the rock and rolling Poetry In Motion; the exultant True True Happiness; Pledging My Love; Without You; the fast paced Cutie Pie; It Keeps Right On A-Hurtin, Johnny's self-penned song which at first hearing gives the impression of being about losing a girl but is actually a paean to his dead father; Send Me The Pillow; Hank Williams' I Can't Help It and I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry; and Willie Nelson's Funny How Time Slips Away.

Technically, the recording is okay and retains its 'punch' despite the pre-stereo technology. That the songs are able to stand out despite the not-so-advanced technology tells us a lot about their quality.

After hearing the whole album, true true happiness came to this Johnny Tillotson fan!

Excellent Sound Quality, Some in Stereo4
This is a typical reissue of Johnny Tillotson's early hits. Included in true stereo are "Poetry In Motion" and the more rare "Talk Back Trembling Lips". Eighteen tracks in all, seven are in true stereo. Sound quality could be from the original master tapes, although there is no mention of this is on the CD.

Excellent5
The sound quality is very good and the tracks seem to be original. The CD had all of the major pop hits I wanted from the allmusic list.

FYI: I've been a record collector and sometimes deejay since the 1950s.
