Dr. Donald F. Kuratko is the Jack M. Gill Chair of Entrepreneurship; Professor of Entrepreneurship and Executive Director of the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. Dr. Kuratko is a national leader in the field of entrepreneurship authoring over 160 articles on entrepreneurship and corporate innovation as well as 24 books, including the leading entrepreneurship textbook, Entrepreneurship: Theory, Process, Practice. Dr. Kuratko has been a consultant on Corporate Innovation to Fortune 100 corporations and he is the Executive Director of the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers. Professor Kuratko's honors include the Entrepreneur of the Year for the state of Indiana; the George Washington Medal of Honor; the Leavey Foundation Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise; the NFIB Entrepreneurship Excellence Award; the National Model Innovative Pedagogy Award for Entrepreneurship; the National Outstanding Entrepreneurship Educator; and a 21st Century Entrepreneurship Research Fellow. An informative HR guide for frontline managers
In this age of restructuring, downsizing, cost-cutting and restless employees, frontline managers have to handle tasks normally performed by the human resources (HR) department. The problem is that many managers aren't trained or prepared to assume these responsibilities. This situation is also unsettling for HR personnel, who see their traditional functions shifted to other departments. Jeffrey Hornsby and Donald Kuratko believe this dilemma can be resolved if HR professionals help managers master HR functions, and thus make HR relevant to a company's overall strategic planning. The result is more qualified line managers and purpose-driven HR personnel. We recommend this dry yet informative book to any individual or organization facing a similar workplace predicament.
