It's supposed to grind roasted sesame seeds
You can't blame the machine for not doing what it was not designed to do. It's supposed to grind ROASTED SESAME SEEDS. And for that, it does a perfect job. I use it all the time to grind roasted sesame seeds onto my pasta, rice, soba noodles, etc. I've had it for many years now and it keeps on working like a charm. (Sesame seeds are nutritionally more valuable when ground up since otherwise the seeds tend to make it through your digestive system intact.)

I love my Zojirushi Sesame Seed Grinder
I haven't tried it for anything other than grinding roasted sesame seeds. That's what I bought it. Its speed really beats that of the hand cranked manual kind, which takes a very long time to accumulate the amount of ground seed I need for my Korean recipes.

Bad Grider, never buy it!
I bough this Grinder since it claim to be sesame grinder, but after I used it I found the sesame powder from it is not acceptable for food, they are too rough, I'm not able to eating it neither my baby, and also the grider plate (2 peieces to crack sesame is platstic, the will not last long!) btw you have to buy 4 AA batter.
