It Really Works!!
This program is fabulous! I have knee problems, but there are so many modifications built into the program that I am still able to push myself. The changes in my body started to show just days after beginning the program. I knew the program was for me when my girlfriend paid me a complement on the definition in my arms. I look forward to my workouts. Jillian is the best motivator and she does a great job explaining what muscles are being worked with each exercise. You've got to try it!!
Best is a long time
I did not give it a 5 simply because I have only been at it for 5 days and don't have a long range assessment yet. It is a fun and very intense,no-nonsense workout. I have not tried level 3 yet but have found that I prefer level 2 over 1 simply because I prefer the moves that are involved. I feel great afterward. My only complaint is that you cannot fast-forward past the beginning ads. If you don't mind putting it in 10 mins early and coming back when she's ready to start you will love this workout. Didn't think 20 mins could be so much work.
Lousy views, Not Enuff Instruction
Yes, this is hard and it's also very effective. It's also extremely rushed and doesn't give good instructions. I admire Miss Michaels tremendously for her work with morbidly obese people, but someone else needs to produce these videos for her. It shows almost all frontal shots, with few side views, and no rear views. She gives minimal one-time instruction and you're instantly launched into the work-out. Good luck keeping up. I prefer the ones that devote a segment strictly to instructions, like when to breathe, keeping the back straight, keeping elbows soft, etcetera, and how to get the best results, and then another segment to the killer work-out. Jillian emphasizes not getting hurt, but does very little to remind the viewer about posture or position. With other videos, they are constantly reminding you to pull in your gut, or when to exhale, and so forth. The work-out goes so fast, beginners barely have time to get into the next position, much less remember when she said to exhale, or to align their spine, etcetera. Using two other people to show Beginning and Intermediate did not work. There is no time to watch someone else, and quite frankly, the Beginner girl had poor form. Some of her actions needed explanation, and none wasn't given. I'm sure this work-out will do what's it guaranteed, but it's more difficult for a beginner because of its presentation, not the exercises themself.
