Customer Reviews
A blast from the past
The unit featured here only has the Ms PacMan game. A much better option is the Ms PacMan/Galaga Reunion unit. This offers Ms PacMan, Galaga and the original PacMan. The following review is for the Reunion unit. Search for Galaga and you should see them offered for about $3K and up.
Reunion review.
This is the old software wrapped in brand new hardware. The exterior graphics are sharp and colorful - many refurb units have what look like poor photocopies glued to the side. The screen is super sharp and shows none of the burned in fuzzyness often seen on a refurb unit. One side of the unit has the Ms PacMan graphic and the other side not shown in the pic has a Galaga graphic that looks less cute than Ms PacMan. The game plays just like to original - for Ms PacMan and the original PacMan, the joystick is a devil. You sail right past the turning ... just like you did on the old one. Sure you can get the software for pennies but nothing beats standing at the full size unit and wrestling with that joystick. Likewise, Galaga is just as you would expect. The controls are the same as the original. Love those flying bugs.
Pros:
* The unit looks good - mine stands in the middle of the house, not locked away in the basement or garage, so it needs to look decent.
* The game play experience beats running the same software on a PC/game console as you need to be standing and wrestling with that joystick.
* It is the life and soul of any party.
Cons:
* The cost. I got my unit the year after it was released. It cost less than $3K. Look locally for a better deal. You might find a dealer who has one for cost.
Best Video Game EVER
This is the best video game ever invented. It is a true classic. It will stand the test of time. I played this when it was released in 1981 and to this day (2007) I will still play this game. Anyone up for a challenge?
