New Heavy Duty Hot Knife Carves a Niche in Hobbies & Crafts Burbank, Calif. Finally, professionals and hobby model makers get the right tool at the right price with the Crafter's Hot Knife. This tool is popular for cutting wax and with model railroaders and wargamers for carving of foam terrain. The hot knife also caught on with theater crews building props and sets. The Crafter's Hot Knife is a step up from traditional wire cutters, offering maneauverability and rigidity as two clear advantages. "The Crafter's Hot Knife brings a new dimension to the modeler's table for carving many types of foam. The knife makes plunge cuts into blocks and shapes possible. Bow cutters cannot make the plunge cuts. The maneuverability of the knife is superior to anything else that I have found on the market," says Miles Hale, Master Model Railroader, Vice President Association of Professional Model Makers. The most distinguishing difference of The Crafters Hot Knife is the rigid and solid, 6" Stainless Steel blade. It slices quickly and cleanly through high-density foam without bending, warping or breaking like common wire cutters. Other features include 110 volt, 130 watts and a 6' electric cord. Temperature is controlled by the user with a "dead man's switch" that delivers the power up to 700 degrees fahrenheit temperatures. This light/medium duty tool will shut down to cool instead of burning out after 5-10 minutes of continual use. "We knew we had something good when we hit the market with the Crafter's Hot Knife", says TL Marshall Company president, Lorraine Marshall. "The market offered crafters and hobbyists only hot wires to carve foam. With the popularity of foam terrain, props, crafts and the booming cottage candlemaking industry. Features & Benefits of the Pro-1 Hot Knife * Rigid Stainless Steel Blade will not bend, warp or break * Economical & Durable * Up to 750 degrees F * Heats up in 1 minute * 110 AV, 130 watts * 6' Electric Cord

Very dissatisfied with company/manufacturer
I ordered the product on 1/25/10, when I had not recieved it by the 5th of Febuary I called the manufacturer, which is where I had directly purchased the item, TL Marshall Co. The president of the company, Lorraine, told me that the address that I had given was incorrect and that I should check with my neighbor, which I did and she had not recieved it either. Lorraine told me that she would check with her shipping dept. to see if it had returned and reported that it had not, she was very nice...and offered to replace the knife at wholesale, I told her that I was not comfortable with that (as I had already paid the 81.50) and she said "I'm sorry it didn't work out for you." Of course it didn't work out for me, I paid $81.50 and recieved nothing, I was still very nice as well, as there is just no point in getting angry, I let her know that I would be contacting my bank. I also called another company that sold the same knife, asked who manufactured the knife and they refused to tell me!!! Did my own research and found that this knife is Manufactured by TL Marshall. The knife is a great deal and wish I could have tried it, but don't appreciate getting taken advantage of by any company, even a small one, to be successful one must practice good ethics, do not feel that this company can provide quality if it doesn't practice simple, thought-minded customer service. Great tool
I finally bit the bullet and spent the money on this product. It is amazing. It transformed our VBS decorations in a flash. Two downfalls...1 the smell of burning foam is overwhelming, even in a well ventilated space, and 2 it overheats fairly quickly and you have to let it cool down before moving on.I used it heavily so I'm sure this was a normal side effect. I would buy it again in a heart beat!
