VERDICT: Awesome
I will share Gizmodo's sentiment about this product 100%. This booooombox doesn't have to sound like a Harmon Kardon system. All it has to do is look good next to cardboard and play N.W.A., Nolan Thomas, Warren G and Kenny Loggins the way they were meant to be heard. That, it does.
It does take 10 "D" cell batteries, and I found that you can find a pack of 10 at Target for about $9 if you hunt around, AND you can prolong the life of the batteries if you make sure to switch the AC/DC switch on the back to AC when you are not using it. Otherwise the clock (any "sleep mode" functions) will suck the battery life down. That or it all transferred to the iPod. I'm not sure - just make sure to flip that switch.
It even comes in a huge box you could cut up and breakdance on.
Old School Style + New School Tech = AWESOME!
I just received my Lasonic i931 and I'm in love. The lows sound great, as do the mids and highs. It looks amazing and the remote is awesome. I was blasting my Tribe Called Quest and couldn't be happier.
PROS - I mean look at it, it's awesome. And it sounds great too!
CONS - 10 D batteries? Are you kidding me? Good thing there's a plug. Also, I'm not convinced that this actually recharges your ipod as you listen to it. The ipod says it's recharging...but I'm not 100% sure...
The Mesiah of Boombox systems
Ever since I was little I always wanted a boombox like my man radio raheim. I had been looking for them for a total of three years now that I can afford one. My only setback was the fact that I wanted a new one, with the bboy look to it. I couldn't find one new. So I decided just to wait. One day I stumbled across this boombox at urban outfitters. I was sold from the moment I laid eyes on it. I couldn't take my eyes off of this beauty for 10 mins. The sound is great, and to top it all off it plays an Ipod. What more could you want. I find no cons to this device. Some people say that the fact you have to buy 10 D batteries a con, but I beg to differ. I spent 70$ on ten rechargeable batteries and a recharger so I'm straight. Can't wait to bring this to South Beach and The Puerto Rican Day Parade!!!!!!!!!!!
