Heavy enough for everyday use and elegant enough for company, this flatware suits any occasion and then goes into the dishwasher. It's made of durable 18/10 stainless steel, polished to a mirror finish. Substantial length (9-inch knives), width, and heft qualify it as European size--the kind of flatware that might be found in an upscale bistro. Teardrop-shaped spoons and strikingly tapered handles contribute a contemporary look to this Manor pattern. The 45 pieces break down into complete table settings for 8 plus a 5-piece "hostess" set of serving pieces. A single setting consists of knife, fork, soup spoon, salad fork, and teaspoon. Scratches very easily
I bought this set from Chef's Catalog 5 years ago. I really like the style, but I have to say the quality has been disappointing. I do not own a dishwasher, and haven't since I owned the set, and it is totally scratched and does not look very good. It is hard to believe it is 18/10 stainless steel. My mother's Betty Crocker sets have stood up much longer and better than Henckels--though the fact it is made in China definitely puts a different spin on it. I wouldn't buy it again.

Excellent qualilty!
We bought a set of Henckels flatware for ourselves and have since purchased two additional sets for gifts. They have a weight to them that other comparably priced stainless flatware doesn't have, are very attractive, and this particular style looks great with both traditional and contemporary table settings.

Lighter weight than expected - this is Henckels International (made in China), not the regular Henckels brands
The flatware is attactive and we appreciate the larger size since my family has large hands. The pieces are not as heavy as I expected and not as well balanced as I have come to expect from Henckels.

Amazon does its customers a disservice in not disclosing that this is the Henckels International brand that is made in China rather than the regular Henckels brand that is made in Germany. I was dissppointed to find it was Henckels International - the quality is just not as good as their two twin brands. Had I known, I would have selected a different set. For the price it is adequate.
