Product Description

The white on white pattern is fashioned after the celebrated artist of the Renaissance period, Benvenuto Cellini. Its boldly relief decoration encompasses lines and curves for a variable and interesting design. Each piece bears a different relief pattern that offers a sculpture-like grace and elegance to the collection. The vitrified porcelain offers the strength and durability that Villeroy & Boch stands for and Cellini can be dressed up or down for everyday use. Microwave it and put it in the dishwasher with our best wishes.

Customer Reviews

Beautiful and elegant5
These dishes are part of Villeroy Boch classic collection and are Fine China (as marked on the dishes and from V-B literature). The amazon description incorrectly calls the dishes from this collection vitrified porcelain. Villeroy Boch makes Bone China, their top of the line in quality, then Fine China, then vitrified porcelain. The differences come from mix of raw ingredients and firing temperatures, and I suppose procedures of each group.
These salad plates look flawless and are beautiful. Villeroy Boch has very high quality standards, dinnerware can be rejected from first quality for very minute flaws. I guess that is to be expected when the price points for this dinnerware are where they are. The seconds, which look very good, are sold at their outlet stores at discount prices. Be careful buying Villeroy Boch at sites such as ebay, because some sellers may try to pass off second quality dishes as first quality.
These dishes are made in Germany, not China. Most of their regular lines of dinnerware are made in Germany. Not all of Villeroy Boch products are of German origin though. Much of their giftware line products are made in China. The prices refect that. Patterns that are not manufactured in Germany have a lower MRSP than the German patterns. For example, the Twist Alea pattern is made in Indonesia and is less expensive than their other dinnerware. I was told Twist Alea is the only regular line pattern not made in Germany.
Since I've only had these dishes less than a week, I can't speak to its' durability. I am hoping they last for years. The design seems timeless and I don't think I will tire of it. The current price for this set of six dishes seems to be a good deal ($39.99, regularly $210.00). I could never afford to pay regular price for these dishes. An even better deal on amazon is a 50 piece set of Cellini dishes for $339. That price can't even be beat at their outlet store.

LOVE IT!5
These are great dishes/bowls for salad, rice, soup, cereal. I use them more than I thought I would. They are much more comfortable to eat from than the villeroy boch cellini rice bowl which are super deep. If you want a deep bowl these are not for you, but if your looking for a shallow bowl, these dishes are perfect!
