Customer Reviews

People, please do your research before you slam a product!5
First, let me say that I am a diehard Starbucks fan. I like serious, full bodied, rich coffee. These pods deliver the best home-brewed coffee I have ever had. It is smooth and flavorful without a bitter aftertaste. I use a Bunn My Cafe Sytem which just happens to work fine as it is designed to work with a wide range of pods and pod sizes.

Having said that, BEFORE I bought the machine or the pods, I did some research. All pods are not created equal. Espresso pods or ESE pods are designed for espresso machines, not single cup brewing machines. Espresso machines are more complicated than coffee machines and require pods made specifically to meet the standards necessary for making a good cup of espresso. They are packed tighter and are more compact than regular coffee pods for a reason.

However, with some experimentation, you may be able to find a single cup machine which will make a good cup of coffee with espresso pods. You cannot, however, slam a product for not being compatible with a machine it was never meant to be used with in the first place. Now if you have invested several hundred to thousands of dollars in an espresso machine, educated yourself on the art of espresso making, and still have a problem with the Starbucks espresso pods, then by all means slam them to your heart's content. In the meantime, it is not fair for others who may read these reviews to think that the product is inferior, when the problem stems from operator error.

Espresso Shot vs. a Coffee Cup5
It is truly amazing that people don't know the difference between espresso pods and coffee pods. Espresso pods are used for making a "shot" of espresso and coffee pods will make a "single cup" of coffee, big difference. These are ESPRESSO PODS and should be used in a ESPRESSO MACHINE, not a coffee machine. Secondly, the "standard" pod for espresso is called "ESE" or easy serving espresso and that is what these pods are made for. Anyone that bought them and tried them in a pod coffee machine like a Black & Decker or Senseo found out that they don't work. Nobody should cut them open unless they want to pay 5x more for espresso or fine ground coffee. Get yourself a ESE espresso machine and do it the right way.

Works great IF you are making espresso5
A lot of people on here are slamming the snot out of these pods because they don't work in their Senseo or Black and Decker makers. These aren't coffee pods, they're espresso pods! They aren't the same league or ballpark as the Senseo brewed coffee pods. I have a Senseo, it makes wonderful coffee. But, these are espresso pods! Do your research!

That being said, if you have an ESE compatible espresso machine, I highly recommend these. They fit better than the Illy pods since they're more compact (no overhanging filter). The espresso is awesome, and they're reasonably priced. Couldn't really ask for more.
