DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
I bought this on one of the daily deals on Amazon. I had been looking at this to purchase full price--thank goodness I didn't do that!! It is made out of VERY CHEAP materials. When it arrived the base was cracked all along the back and one side. Also the birdhouse chimney was broken (easy to fix but still broken and the paint was chipped). There were also several places where the paint was chipped. And the descriptions SAYS its handpainted--I don't think so. It's cute but definitely NOT worth $[...] --not even worth the $80 I paid for it during the lightening deal. Even though I have to fix and touch up on the paint, I was still going to keep it and not bother with the hassle of returning it. When I tried to assemble the bookshelf I discovered the predrilled holes are too big and the shelves won't stay together. Now, I have to return the thing and filling out the refund information I find out that even though the bookshelf is defective I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR RETURN SHIPPING--that's not right I could understand if it was just because I didn't want it but the bookcase is defective!!!

More than a Book Case
We bought this book case for our 6 year old. It was very easy to put together. After we set it up, our daughter uses it as a book case, toy case, and doll house all in one. Very good for the price and hey, Free Shipping!

amazon to the rescue!!
I too bought this as the daily special. My first one was broken from shipping. Basically the manufactures box is way to flimsy. Anyway, I immediately put it back in the box and followed the return procedures through Amazon. As ALWAYS, Amazon to the rescue. They had UPS do a "pick up" the very next morning and the UPS man came the VERY NEXT morning with a brand new one in hand and it was totally fine. I did not pay anything for shipping at all. I would encourage the other buyer to email amazon and figure out why she was charged as Amazon will never charge return shipping on a broken item, never........ I built it, very easy to build and it is just adorable. I am happy with the sale price I paid for this unique piece. I really didn't want the basic bookcase and this is anything but basic. My daughter also likes it for a doll house too! I give it a 4 as I would have preferred a nicer quality, HOWEVER with these details and totally handmade could easily run over 400, which I am not willing to pay.
