This just may be the best knife case ever! The Shun Professional Chefs Knife case features 17 slots for all of your favorite knives. The exterior is a combination of durable fabric and leather treatments. When fully opened this case measures a whopping 20" x 36". For your larger knives there is a velcro strap which measures 4" wide to secure your largest knives so they will stay put. For your smaller knives there is a large flap which is secured with velcro to cover and protect these knives and also ensure that they stay put. This large flap also includes a zippered mesh envelope which you can use to store other accessory items. (This is like a bonus room for more stuff.) To ensure that your Shun knives are protected this case features a very heavy duty end flap that when the case is closed will make sure that your knives stay put, period. The case folds shut into a compact space and features a center handle, 2 heavy duty nylon straps with secure snap closures, and a shoulder strap to make transport even easier. The finishing touch is a beautiful embroidered Shun logo on the side exterior in red and gold lettering.

A decent knife bag
This knife bag is solidly built, and gorgeous to boot. The rigid case unfolds to reveal a spacious interior that will securely hold your knives and other kitchen gear. When folded back up, the velcro and straps securely hold the case together to ensure that nothing will fall out, making this an exceptionally protective and safe bag for your knives.

The bag is not as compact as it could be, however. It is fairly bulky when compared to knife bags that you can simply roll up. Although this bag will keep your knives safe from damage from banging into your other knives, there is no way to decrease the size of the bag.

Additionally, the bag doesn't like to hold things over a certain size. The slots for your knife handles are made with a very snug-fitting elastic that may not accept larger diameter handles of certain knives or other kitchen gear (Asian-style cleavers or even 1-inch diameter rolling pins, for example). Finally, if you fill the bag with gear, the bag may resist being folded back in shape if you have not placed your items properly. Although this can be remedied (somewhat) by loosening the straps that snap the case shut, it can be annoying and awkward.

Great product
I purchased this for my husband who is a professional chef and he loves it. It is the only knife case that has enough room for all his knives and extras, and keeps them all separated. All his co-workers are envious!

Very good case
I use this case primarily for my traveling Shun knives (I'm a personal chef) but there is so much room in the case, I have space for thermometers, measuring spoons and various other accessories. Great value.
