Amazon.com Product Description
Bamboo has come into the spotlight as an eco-friendly resource. Bamboo fibers are being used in a greater number of products since the bamboo plant is sustainable and naturally regenerative, and lends itself perfectly to the making of supremely soft and naturally antimicrobial fabrics. This bath towel proves it: expertly made in Turkey of a 70/30 blend of bamboo and cotton in a plush 800-grams-per-square-meter weave, the towel has a luxurious feel against the skin. And once it touches your skin, it quickly absorbs the moisture because bamboo's fibers are so porous. Not only does the bath towel feel silky soft, it looks great, too, with a supple draping quality, a light lustrous sheen, and a pretty piqué woven border at either end. The bath towel measures approximately 30 by 56 inches and weighs 30.5 ounces. For easy accessorizing, the towel is offered in an array of colors. Combine with Pinzon’s bamboo cotton washcloths, hand towels, bath sheets, and even bathrobes to transform the bathroom into a luxe retreat. Cleaning is a breeze since bamboo cotton is safe to wash at home in the washer and dryer. Please note, though, that this fabric can sometimes take a little longer to dry in the dryer after it has been thoroughly soaked in the washer.

Care Instructions: To best care for this product, please exclusively follow the washing instructions on the label. Fabric softeners should not be used when washing or drying, since softeners often include chemicals that can break down the construction of the material and decrease its absorbency.

In addition, take care to avoid direct contact between this product’s fabric and chemical acids or bleaches often found in many cosmetics. Certain cosmetics such as facial care products, creams, makeup, and makeup removers contain chemical acids and/or bleaches which can discolor fabric. These chemicals do not dissolve in water and may cling to the fabric when wiped against the skin, leading to a discoloration that appears as spots or “splotches.” Generally, it's best to use a towel or cloth with white fabric when removing facial creams and similar products from the face. Likewise, discolorations may also occur when attempting to spot-clean stains with bar soap. Certain bar soaps also contain high acidity levels and/or dyes that can discolor fabric.

Fabric Definition
Bamboo Cotton: Bamboo cotton is a supremely soft fabric comprised of both bamboo and cotton fibers in varying ratios. The bamboo plant lends itself perfectly to the making of fabrics. Bamboo’s porous fibers make a cloth with a breatheability and moisture absorption greater than cotton and a softness comparable to silk and cashmere. Bamboo fibers have a natural sheen to them and are naturally antimicrobial. Bed and bath linens made of bamboo cotton provide the very best qualities of each fiber.

History of the Textile Mill
Founded in Denizli, Turkey, in 1989 by Mr. Eke himself, the Eke Textile Industry and Trading Company began its operations with just a 1,500 square meter area and eight weaving looms. By 1991, the company established a sewing line to broaden its product range and increase market share. Soon, two computer-aided ETON system lines and 46 stations were added. The Swedish ETON system guarantees a minimum error rate of 2%-3%. It is an assembly-line-like system that allows the producer to know exactly who in which station is responsible for each part of the production process. This greatly minimizes production flaws, which earns EKE its stellar reputation for superior products. To meet continually growing demand, the operation was moved to a new 10,000 square meter plant in 1996. Mr. Eke is still in charge of daily operations and EKE has come to boast a 500+ strong workforce.

History of the Region
Denizli is the most famous city in Turkey for towels and bathrobes. The factories have employed a long line of towel weavers from the mountain top village of Babadag, near Denizli. Weaving is a tradition that has been perfected over the past 300 years. The technique originated from the weaving of Turkish carpets, and eventually moved to towels with the use of thinner cotton yarns. Denizli is not only known for its towels, but also for its hot springs, known as “Pamukkale,” or, in English, “Cotton Castle.” The natural thermal water, containing limestone, has flowed over the hilltops for hundreds of years, creating a smooth rock formation that gives the hills their clean, white appearance. Denizli is also one of the largest marble producing areas in the world. Their second biggest export after textiles is marble stone.

Customer Reviews

very heavy towels with care issues3
Based on the positive reviews, I bought a complete set of these towels and the matching Pinzon Bamboo Cotton Hand Towel, White and Pinzon Bamboo Cotton 2-Pack Washcloths, White. They have some annoying aspects that weren't mentioned by other reviewers and that weren't obvious in the product descriptions.

The care instructions require cold water wash, no bleach. In general, don't everyone's towels occasionally need hot washing and sanitizing or stain removal?

The care instructions also specify low dryer temperature. These are relatively very heavy towels, and at a low temperature, just four towels take two full cycles in the dryer (90 minutes or more) to dry.

If you're a person who likes to wrap up in a towel with just a quick tuck to hold it in place, be aware that this towel is way to heavy for that. It's weight drags it down instantly.

That said, the towels are intensely soft, even silky. It's as if they have been soaked in fabric softener but without the absorption issues that would cause. They're very absorbent. They feel fabulous against even very dry sensitive skin without even a hint of abrasive texture.

Overall, I'm not unhappy enough to return them and they do feel nice, but if I had known they were so heavy and had the care issues, I don't think I would have purchased them.

Makes me (almost) look forward to mornings5
A friend of mine recommended these towels, saying that she can't bring herself to use any of her old towels now that she has these. After feeling how soft they are, I had to get some for myself! And, let me say, they are far superior to any towel I've ever owned--and for a really amazing price. I've often bought the Polo bath sheets, and they do not even compare to these Pinzon ones, plus they cost lots more!

The towels are so soft and luxurious--they almost make me want to get up in the morning just so I can have my shower and wrap myself in the super softness! Plus, the bath towel is a great size--it's actually fairly large for a "towel"--it's really about the size of what other brands call a bath "sheet."

I know towels aren't a particularly glamorous gift, but I'm definitely going to be giving some of these Pinzon towels as Christmas gifts. My friends and family will enjoy the luxury as much as I do! Also, I notice there is a matching robe, so I might pick up a couple of those too.

Sheer Luxury!4
Oh my, how I love these bath sheets! I bought one in Palm and one in Espresso. These little luxuries have far exceeded my expectations.
Big time pros:
1. They are absolutely, silky soft yet...
2. They absorb beautifully.
3. It is such a pampering experience for me to step out of the shower and wrap myself up in one of these luxurius bath sheets.
4. They are generously sized and cover up my plus-sized body completely.

So, why haven't I rated these a five? Well, they aren't perfect.

Not so big-time cons:
1. They take FOREVER to dry (two full cycles in the dryer, then I had to remove everything else and dry them by themselves for one more cycle). This appears to only be a problem when fully saturated though, because they dry just fine when hung up after a shower.
2. The Expresso colored towel gathers and shows lint quickly, which is, perhaps, to be expected with a dark colored towel. Still annoying and unsightly.
3. They are VERY heavy, almost like a small blanket. I happen to like that about them, but it could definitely be a minus to someone who likes a lighter towel.
4. Price...let's face it, these things are PRICEY. I'd like to replace all my towels with the matching bath towels, but it would be cost prohibitive.

Having said that, I would buy them again in a heartbeat. I love the Palm color, but would probably think twice about the darker Expresso, just because of the lint issue. If you are looking for a super soft, roomy, absorbant bath towel, you can't go wrong with this one! Everyone deserves a little treat in life, so why not splurge a bit and wrap yourself in luxury?

***UPDATE*** 7/6/08 - These are still holding up beautifully. I've since ordered several as gifts and everyone has raved about them (and some recipients have come to Amazon to buy more)! I was going to redo my guest bath, and when I saw the amazing discount on the ginger color, I instantly decided on my color scheme. What a deal! I've ordered them for my sons' homes and sent some to my brother as well. Have I mentioned how much I love ALL these towels??? I only wish I could change the review to reflect 5 stars instead of 4....the pros FAR outweigh the cons in my opinion.
