This safe and economical cleaner from Zojirushi removes lime, scale and mineral deposit build-up from electric dispensing pots, air pots and carafes. A clean pot means proper water temperature and a fresh clean taste for beverages! This cleaner will extend the life of your appliance by keeping it clean internally! Not for use on aluminum. This item is safe to pour down the sink and will not harm plumbing or septic systems, is non-toxic and biodegradable. Sold in single packs of 1 ounce. For optimal results we recommend using 1 pack for each liter of capacity of the item being cleaned (example: a 4 -Liter capacity pot will need 4 packets of cleaner). You should clean the pot or appliance once a year if using bottled or filtered water or every 6 months for tap water. You are getting six one-ounce packets.

Just use Vinegar
White vinegar dissolves all the lime, scale, etc. It's cheap, easy, just a little stinky and takes a little longer.

This is how we've been cleaning our Zojirushi electric pots for the past 20 years.

1) Heat up the vinegar to ~150f or so (in the dispensing pot or separately) then pour in. I use a 4 cup pyrex cup in the microwave.

1.5 (Optional)I add a large mason jar in the middle to displace the vinegar so I get a higher level with less vinegar (Think of how sitting in a bathtub causes the water to rise)

2) Leave overnight

3) Rinse out thoroughly. We save the vinegar for use over and over.

I don't know what chemical they are using, but I do know that white vinegar is biodegradable and perfectly safe for human consumption.

Quick Cleaning
I use an Ikeda 2.2L hot water dispenser and it typically requires 2 of these packets to get completely clean. We would have thrown our pot away if not for this cleaner! Our family uses it pretty much everyday so it is mandatory to clean out once a month or every two months. If your dispenser hasn't been cleaned in a long time, say 6 months or more, it might take a lot more packets. It is recommended to clean out the pot every 1-3 months. The ingredients are non-toxic, sulfuric acid and some other things.
