On the Fence
I've fed these to my collies and they absolutely love them and for me that's a real plus because my dogs are very finicky eaters. I've never observed any ill effects. That said, I do share the concern of the previous reviewer about this product being made in China. After the dog food poisoning last year, I'm reluctant to feed my dogs anything that comes from China. So I've stopped buying this product. I've looked and looked for chicken strips made in the USA or Canada, but have been unable to find any. If anyone knows of a similar product made in North America, please let us know. So the reason for 3 stars is because my dogs love the product, but I don't trust it because it is made in China. I'm not saying anything is wrong with the product, and in fact, my personal experience is that it's great. The problem is that China does not have a good reputation when it comes to pet food and this company has not done anything to assure me that its products are safe.
Wow - Made in China. I will no longer purchase these until Made in America or Canada.
I purchased two packages of these at a boutique pet shop in Miami and was so excited when I saw these on Amazon because I was paying $20.88 for ONE 16 oz bag - my dogs LOVE them ... after seeing this review and looking on the package I have you are CORRECT! They ARE made in CHINA - I'm sorry but after all the problems we had with the dog food from China that killed a number of dogs in the last year or so - I WILL NOT BUY THIS ANYMORE and I hope no one else will until changes are made. I'd HAPPILY pay $20 per bag IF they were made in the USA or CANADA. DOGSWELL - can you manufacture this product in a safer location where controls are in place? PLEASE!
Made in China - but has been evaluated by a lab
I have had dogs all my life. I used to only give dog food & table scraps for years. I noticed with a poor human diet of my family & dog food they died early and/or had many issues.
We had one dog that would not eat dog biscuits of any kind if made with grains & would rather starve then eat kibble. If fed canned dog food w/grains he was lethargic & had bad gas. That is when realized dogs cannot digest grains.
Our dog now within a year of his birth was very lethergic, moody, depressed & seemed to have arthritis even on no grain kibble. Within a month of given only rice added dog food he was more energetic & no more arthritis. He still had a little issue with rice, so we find very simple dog food or rarely give it to him & give him human grade canned or refrigerated pre-cooked meat with frozen veggies, pre-cooked eggs & olive oil for fat for shiny coat.
With the China scare I was not worried much since he ate mostly human grade food & the dog food I choose I read the labels for the most quality ingredients.
When I read these reviews, I admit since I've used this product for 2 years w/o issues on a sensitive dog, I never checked the origin like I do when debating new dog food products. I checked the internet & this product was never on the recall list & they had their product analyzed by a lab very soon after the massive recall to prove they were safe. (Do a search.)
Considering almost all dog products have grains, there are soooo many dog "cookies" it's very hard to find simple meat treats w/nothing added.
