I have one in black, it takes a bit of getting used to and (as with ALL kitchen appliances) always be sure to read the instructions before use! Buy new: $5.50 Please repeat after me: " I am not a Kitchenware Snob". Good. Now, look at this knife (as well as other Rada products). My grandma used to give me a Rada pairing knife every Christmas as a stocking stuffer (don't ask) and lo and behold, they're still the knives I reach for when slicing an apple to snack on or potatoes for a gratin.
