not good for curls
The gems are basically two stud like gems held back to back with a tiny spring connecting them. That's where the hair goes. If your kids have straight hair, they will slide out of the hair pretty easily, but if they have curls I would not recommend this item as it is almost impossible to get them out without ripping hair out.

My girls (9 and 11) used them for a few days around the house after Christmas, but the novelty wore off pretty quickly.

A little more time-consuming than we thought
You have to make sure that you have a very specific amount of hair to put these on--if it's too small, they fall off; if it's too big, they fall off. We're getting the hang of it the more we use it, though. My daughter was so pleased to get this!

Cool product
This is a really fun product for girls. It works great and the jewels look so cute in their hair. It's easy to use as well.
