From the Publisher
Experience life on a farm while drawing and writing about horses, cows, tractors, and more! Developed by an elementary school teacher and co-authored by her daughter, each colorful lesson combines beginning drawing instruction with writing exercises. Children use the books independently, or a teacher or parent may present the lessons. The series won the Teachers' Choice Award and is a regular recipient of Practical Homeschooling Reader Awards.
From the Author
At the beginning of my teaching career, I gave my students many opportunities to draw, but some were hesitant to draw or simply stated, "I can't draw". So, individually, I showed them how to look at an object and confidently convey it on paper. As the school year progressed, I found that the entire class quieted as I gave drawing tips to an individual or a small group. Some of my suggestions showed up in the pictures of the students who were already comfortable with drawing. I realized I was in effect giving drawing instruction to the entire class, so I started integrating drawing lessons into my curriculum. The lessons in our books are the social studies, science, geography, history and language arts lessons I created for my students. -- Marie Hablitzel
About the Author
During her 30 year career as a public school teacher, Marie Hablitzel developed drawing lessons for her second and third grade students. The lessons were integrated with her social studies, geography, science, history, and language arts lessons. Marie and her husband, Bob, raised six children and live in Red Bluff, California.
Kim Stitzer, Marie's daughter, grew up with the lessons and saw a way for other people to enjoy them when her five-year-old daughter began receiving drawing lessons from Marie in postal letters. Kim and her husband, Randy, have two children and live in Poulsbo, Washington.

THIS BOOK IS WONDERFUL!
I just bought this book for my boys ages 4 and 3. And this book is great. It really teaches you step by step how to draw. I am very bad at drawing if it is anything other than stick people. But I am actually learning right along with the kids. It is great. It is full color, and you can reuse it many times with many children.
best books available for teaching children how to draw
Finally! A beginning level drawing course that allows children to be successful! Hats off to authors Marie Hablitzel and Kim Stitzer for sharing Marie's classroom lessons in this delightful series of books. My children love working with these books!
The best draw/write book that I ever bought for my sons.
I found this book about 18 months ago and I knew that this book will help my sons to draw. Chris is now 9 years old and Daniel is 6 years old. They both love these books ( book 1-6 ). They use these books most frequently for their projects. Ever since I have been buying these books for B-day presents, even sent them to Singapore !
