This is my all-time favorite keyboard!
I've had my Kinesis Keyboard for several years now. I bought it because I saw it in a store and it looked cool, no other reason. The price made me think twice but now I wouldn't give it up for anything. In fact, I bought another one for my Mac.
It must have taken me a good two weeks to get used to typing on it with the thumbs doing the space bar, delete, enter, backspace and control and delete keys. Once I got the hang of it, I was completely in love with this keyboard. When typing, the heels of my hands rest below the keys on the keyboard and the indentations of the keys mean that they're closer together and easier to reach so I can type much faster. When I'm typing something long or "talking" to someone online, I usually put the keyboard on my lap and type. It's completely comfortable. I was never a really fast typist until I got this keyboard.
Another nice thing about the keyboard is that it keeps other people from using your computer because it's too difficult for the unaccustomed to sit down and quickly type something. If you work in an office it keeps the IT people away. (You can always plug in another one if you really need them).
Another great feature is that you can reprogram any key to be something else. For example, I have the "End" key which is in the thumb area programed so backspace 5 spaces. This makes deleting several characters really fast. You can even program macros, so one key could carry out several functions.
I've never regretted this purchase and if anything ever happened to the keyboard I'd replace it immediately. Even though it's expensive, this is one of those things that is well worth the price.
