Perfectly Portable
This inexpensive little keyboard has made working in a low-light environment so much easier for someone like me on the road. The illumination makes the keys clearly visible in the dark and can be turned off when not needed. The keys are actually a little bigger and are easier to press than my laptop's keyboard. There are no CD's to load, just plug-n-play without any "bloatware" to interfere with what I want to do: type. The slip of paper that serves as an instruction manual doesn't really provide any new information, but the interesting translation to English is worth the read.
I have only used this thing for about a month so far, but it seems reliable enough at this point. I worry about it's lightweight construction; it's very light, but I feel obligated to treat it gently for fear of breaking it.
So far I am very pleased with this gadget and would recommend it to anyone who spends too much time in the dark with their computer.
Excellent keyboard with one major flaw
I didn't pay the currently listed price of $79 + $20 shipping for this keyboard. I don't recall what I paid exactly, but it was inexpensive. If you choose this model, find another source to buy it.
I love this keyboard, its just what I needed. I keep it on my lap with in the dark at home surfing or game playing. Its size and illumination make it just perfect for me.
HOWEVER - Zippy felt compelled to put buttons at the top that will just turn off your computer. Its just insane, I hit it by mistake when moving the keyboard or just squirming around. Once I hit this key, the computer is crashing ungracefully - its like I just turned it off without closing any applications. I am looking for another keyboard right now because this one did not come with software that allows me to disable the insane "crash my computer now" key.
Too bad, because otherwise this one is just perfect. Key click is quiet and smooth, its sturdy, just the right size, and its not easy to find a mini that is backlit too. Maybe I will go to the Zippy website and look for key disable software before I throw in the towel on it. Maybe I can just pry the offensive key off, but it is not a normal key - its part of a row of fancy buttons. All of these buttons do things I do not want to do during game play or any time. One takes me to some MSN website - not opening another window, it takes my current session there. The next opens microsoft mail - not a tool I even use. Then we have one that puts the computer into sleep mode, which I never know how to get out of, and the last is the real zinger - the "power down my computer right now" key. What the heck were they thinking?
One more small annoyance but one I can live with is that after a reboot (and reboots are frequent because the crash-me key gets bumped) the keyboard comes back with some of the right hand keys in a "num lock" mode. I typically type my passwords wrong once or twice before I remember to turn off the num-lock. Strange little quirk, but not a big deal.
