About the Author
Demetra George and Douglas Bloch are also authors of Asteroid Goddesses (Ibis Press, 2003). Demetra George is a professor at Kepler College where she teaches the history of astrology in ancient and medieval civilizations as well as the techniques of Hellenstic astrology. Douglas Bloch’s recent publication, Healing from Depression: 12 Weeks to a Better Mood, has been acclaimed as "a lifeline to healing." He facilitates ongoing support groups for people who suffer from depression and anxiety.

It kills me that this book is only available used!
I have not ever found a better astrology book for those people who simply want to understand their own chart. They don't want to wade knee deep through understanding the possible planet/sign/house/aspect combinations for the rest of the world. (or they don't want to dedicate the number of years it takes to become adept). This book can take them from zero understanding to a respect and deepened understanding of their own chart. It is also one of the best beginner books I have ever seen for those people who do want to begin a more dedicated study of astrology. Organized, well put together and in a logical and manageable order. I teach an intro to astrology course and am constantly asked which book I'd recommend for the students to delve into their own charts. This is the only one I've found out of a rather extensive personal library. Grab your copies while you're still able to find them or hope for a reprint on this amazing book. Intermediate students can also use it to further their depth of study.

Absolutely the Best Book for Beginners
I shopped and shopped for a book that would unravel the mysteries of astrology, and this book was my discovery! I've told all my friends about it, and they are now on their own quests for personal transformation.Do yourself a favor and use this book to learn the basics before trying to read some of the more advanced texts, It has a great overview of every planet, asteroid, sign, house, and aspect, and you'll learn how to identify and read them all like a pro.

GREAT Beginning Astrology Book
I completely enjoyed this book. It was interactive enough to keep me busy and informative enough to keep me excited about filling out each page. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in the process of taking their astrology knowledge to the "next level."

Basically, you fill in a lot of charts, keywords and more...all about your own chart. You will end up practically memorizing keywords etc. by the time you are finished...without even realizing you have! Well, written, well laid out...big thumbs up!
