THEATER OF BLOOD: Price revels in an (over) performance of Shakespeare as an actor taking revenge on the critics who never gave him a good review. Along with Laura, Price considered it one of his finest films. Pure camp, and a lot of fun. Pick up this disc and also get MADHOUSE, an interesting but flawed pairing with the distinguished Peter Cushing.

The film that may have cemented Price's future in horror films. A classic!

Roger Corman's work with Vincent Price on adaptations of Poe (written by the master, Richard Matheson) are some of the finest films ever to be made so cheaply.FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER and PIT AND THE PENDULUM on the same disc are a must-have, if only for Barbara Steele's gaze as the last shot of the latter before credits roll.

MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH is Corman at his most stylish (while still within budget), and Price at the top of his form as the too confident Prince Prospero unable to keep death from his door. Of course, Matheson didn't write the script, and it shows. But Corman approached Bergman at times. No joke! This disc is paired with PREMATURE BURIAL. No Price. Ray Milland. Not bad. Just not Price.

Tim Burton resurrects Price for a whole new generation of movie-goers, and the role of Inventor is both campy and sweet. Although he would go on to do voice overs and a few other projects, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS may very well be Price's last great performance.
