Customer Reviews
Way overpriced
The cartridge (with Vivera Inks - whatever that means) produces fairly high quality color output. I really think the product is good. There are, however, a number of other factors to consider, preferably before you buy a printer:
1) The cartridges are extremely expensive
2) They run out of ink faster than one would expect
3) Unlike other makers, there is one cartridge for all colors, instead of multiple cartridges with single colors
4) Depending on your color preferences, you may need to replace the cartridge before it is empty. This is because if one uses a few color combinations a lot (think about putting your logo on everything you print, for example) you start to run low on a color component and not getting the color you want.
5) HP over-packaged the cartridges. If you are eco sensitive, you might have an issue. But you can send the cartridges back to HP for recycling at no charge.
6) If HP recycles their own cartridges, why do they try and scare buyers about purchasing recycled cartridges from another source?
7) If you do a lot of printing at one time, smears or drops can be expected.
7a) Remove and gently wipe any excess ink off of the jets with link free material.
Bottom line: very good quality but is it cost justified?
These Color Cartridges do not last long
Love the print quality, but these do not last long. They go out without warning, nor explanation of problem. I tried to refill them with injected ink kits, no luck. Seems to me that HP puts a code on the catridge so when it is deemed done it is done, regardless if there is sufficient ink in cartridge.
I am upset w/ HP over this issue. They block after market competition, supply an overpriced, poor product, and do not offer bulk purchase of replacement cartridges.
Bad ink
I bought two cartridges of the HP 97 and neither one worked correctly. It either had dried ink or not filled correctly or some other problem. I took them to a store for a recycle credit and bought their ink. Theirs worked.
