To manufacture each set piece, skilled workers at Le Creuset pour molten iron from a creuset, or cauldron, into a one-use-only cast. The skillet's mold provides sloped sides with cutaways for pouring contents neatly. The set's cast-iron construction evenly distributes and maintains heat, and resists warping and breakage for decades upon decades. After the iron solidifies, craftsmen apply multiple coats of chip-proof enamel to the cookware. Nonstick enamel coats the interior of the omelet pan to ease cooking and cleaning.
