Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
PreS–First-time readers and those already familiar with Dunrea's goslings will be delighted by this simple story about anticipating the holiday. Seated in the snow with their beaks leaning forward and dressed in winter wear, Gossie, Gertie, BooBoo, Peedie, and Ollie await the arrival of Father Christmas Goose. While the others interrupt their vigil for holiday preparations, Ollie remains steadfastly in place. His reward is a personal greeting from Father Christmas Goose (who looks majestic wearing an aviator cap and goggles) and the important task of announcing to everyone that Christmas has indeed arrived. Remaining true to his uncomplicated watercolor style, Dunrea maintains an element of charm to Ollie's waiting, depicting his impatience as sweet and subdued, rather than manic and obsessed. Parents and children will immediately relate to this youngster's excitement.–Joanna K. Fabicon, Los Angeles Public Library

From Booklist
Dunrea's fans will be pleased to see his characters return in a simple picture book with a Christmas theme. All the little goslings are anticipating the arrival of Father Christmas. Ollie stomps about impatiently asking, “Is Christmas here yet?” When the pivotal moment comes, he reacts quite differently from the other little geese. While the story is slight, the focus on Ollie’s childlike anticipation is right on target. Dunrea’s graceful ink drawings and beautiful washes offer an appealing alternative to more complex, but less satisfying Christmas picture books. Preschool. --Carolyn Phelan

Merry Christmas Ollie
Walking through my local bookstore I was excited to see the terrific Christmas display for MERRY CHRISTMAS OLLIE. Ollie's cute red and yellow knit stocking cap brings the little goslings to life. I fell in love with this picture book! The magic and wonder of Christmas is captured in simple snow filled illustrations that will delight the young reader. Once again Dunrea's goslings take center stage in this sure to be Christmas classic.
Nice children's book
All the titles by this author are great. My son really enjoys them and I don't get sick of reading them.
The "Gossie Series" is great!!!
My husband brought home the "Gossie" book one night, and my 3-year old son had him read it 5 times that night, and every night for a few weeks. I looked up other books by the author and purchased all that I could find on Amazon. They are short and sweet (great for ages 2-4 with short attention spans). Pictures are simple and storylines are fun. Many are board books, but a few are lift-a-flap. I would recommend all of them! They are great for little ones!!
