Use these plans to make a simple seismometer; build a sun photometer to make accurate measurements of the atmosphere; study rain, lightening, and sunlight; and build a wide variety of lightwave and radio communication circuits. This is a compilation of three of Mims's best-selling notebooks: Science Projects; Environmental Projects; and Communication projects.

Great little book joins electronics and environmental science
This book is a departure from other titles from the same author. It is of high quality like all of his other books, but it manages to get the reader interested in electronics AND elementary meteorology and environmentalism. I think that it is slightly mislabled, as I didn't see anything in the book that was about communications circuitry. However, it is packed with interesting projects on the environment such as how to monitor sunlight, listening to natural versus artificial light, rain sensors, and even projects on the hydrosphere! Most of the required components for the circuits are extremely common such as the 555 timer and 741 operational amplifier, so construction costs are minimal. If you have a teenager who needs ideas about science projects this book is a must have. Even if you are an adult interested in electronics and would like to know something about elementary circuits for measuring environmental conditions, I think you will find it a very interesting read. I know that I did.
Science and Communication Circuits & Projects
It is by Forrest Mims, What else is there to say? I recommend to anyone in electronics.
A must have in any hobbyist library
The serious electronics hobbyist needs all of Forrest Mims' electronics books and the "Art of Electronics". This collection of books will serve as the foundation on which the hobbyist can build their knowledge.
