I have always loved sci-fi and have personally read hundreds of great sci-fi classics. In The Kolumbas Affair, I have attempted to include my combined knowledge and experience from reading the genre into this, my first novel. The story combines many subplots and has many layers of complexity. The main storyline however, follows Alfias our hero, as he battles assassins, commandos, and killer telepaths to name but a few of his enemies. He is assisted by the mysterious Jonathon in the even more mysterious ship, the Triton.

Behind the scenes we see another storyline playing out. The galaxy is teetering on the brink of war with almost everyone plotting to overthrow the heavy handed ETCA. Will the rebels succeed? Will war ensue, or will the ETCA, with their usual extreme measures, squash the rebellion?

Another even more sinister, subtle storyline runs through the main plot, but I will leave you to figure that one out. I have thoroughly enjoyed writing this novel and I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labour. Please feel free to drop me an email and let me know what you like about this novel.

Hyperspace, telepathy, strange beings, a purple planet
I loved the story in this book. It's something different and in the world of sci-fi that is hard to come by. "The Kolumbas Affair" catches your attention from the first page, and simply doesn't stop.

After introducing the central, intriguing character, Alfias, strange non-physical beings, hyperspace, telepathy, conspiracies, a doting mother who knits the same textile for a life-time, and a purple planet, how can one not be hooked? All those things in one book are enough to grab any sci-fi reader; especially any that are moderate readers of the genre.

I liked the fact that there were not made-up words or acronyms which were poorly explained. I find that in a lot of sci-fi, and it's annoying. This book was easy to follow with a very intriguing plot: A real page-turner for me and I read a lot of sci-fi. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars for being a well thought out, unique piece of fiction. I'd love to see it developed even further and will keep a look out for the sequel.

Although this book can certainly stand on it's own; I await with bated breath, the sequel, please, Mr. Blankson!

A Great Summer Science Fiction Read
The Klumbas Affair is a good, light, summer science fiction read. The scientific extrapolations are reasonably logical extensions current scientific reality and long term scientific hopes. The alien species encountered are naturally alien but are adequately developed to make their differences understandable and meaningful to the plot lines.
The story itself contains many of the elements of ancient mythology and hero tales. Alfias, our main character starts out as many legendary heroes as a normal individual leading a regular life when something happens to set him off on a quest for some uncertain object or goal. In his case the goal is supposed to be to open the Abyss and save the universe. Along the journey the hero meets many travelers and acquires a group of companions. These companions each bring their own unique abilities, knowledge, and / or wisdom to the endeavor. Some trusted friends turn out to be enemies and some enemies turn out to bring aid at the crucial moment. The hero eventually achieves their goal and returns home to find that they themselves have changed and/or home has changed as a result of the quest or as unexpected side effects of the passage of time and changes in people and environments.

The Klumbas Affair also has elements of mystery, drama, love and romance. It is therefore a good combination of all the major genres. It flows well and is easy to read.
