Customer Reviews
it rocks!
i am an industrial designer and the cintiq has boosted my efficiency a great deal! no more scanning thumb nail sketches or renderings! i read other reviews that were not satified and i do not understand. everyone i know in i.d. has one of these and they love them. i use "alias sketch book pro($179)" with mine and it works just great!
i do agree that it is bulky, but i fixed that with another $150 you can put it on an "ergotron lx desk mount LCD arm with the accessory extension arm and that solved the bulky issue for me.
ps - i never had an early wacom tablet.
i still love to sketch on paper, but at work this puppy really shines for me!
For Artist
I'm not sure what the other reviewer is using his Cintiq for but anyone who works with paper and pencil or canvas and paint will feel right at home with this. Yes your hand could block what you are doing if you hold the pen weird. But for the traditional artist who has been able to master drawing on the stuff we like to call paper, this shouldn't be a problem. I guess you could test out whether or not its going to baffel you by getting a piece of paper and a pencil. Now try to draw a circle, if you master that then try a simple Christmas tree. If somehow you were able to manage this primitive task then maybe you'll be smart enough to hold the pen like a pen and see what you're drawing. As for not seeing parts of the screen unless you get up and read upside down? Try this simple experiment. If you're using a laptop or any lcd screen tilt it away from you or look at it from the side. Huh? Gee whiz, why does it look funny? Maybe because it has a LIMITED VIEWING ANGLE. That's one of the reasons that you can move this so easily (it is PORTABLE)and if you can't see clearly at the angle you're at???? move the bloody thing an inch or so. But I will agree this is not for everyone. If you want to use it for handwriting apps. save your money. If you want it to touch up snapshots that will only be seen by the family, save your money. And if you can't seem to figgure out how to draw on a piece of paper...Oh hell, I give up.
Pretty Good!
I'm not a professional graphic designer and only bought the Cintiq monitor for amateur digital drawing using Photoshop, Painter X, and other digital design applications. I previously used a small Wacom tablet but figured that I could put the Cintiq on my lap and draw directly on it, therefore improving my efficiency in the applications I mentioned. Well, I found that the Cintiq was way too heavy and hot for that use. It can be used on a table top however. There's a little bit of a double image problem when you look closely at the screen. There appears to be a shadow line adjacent to every window/line on the monitor! It's a little annoying at times if you pay attention to details. It makes things a little blurry. The resolution is very good however and drawing on the Monitor is very accurate. Overall, it's pretty good for my purposes but considering the price, I would have been better off with a larger Wacom tablet instead of the Cintiq. However, I'm just an amateur in this area. If you're a pro I can see that this monitor can greatly improve your work flow. There's a newer smaller/lighter version Cintiq available now. I guess they've had feedback from consumers with a similar problem as me.
