About the Brand
Fantastic Foods is one of the nation's leading natural foods companies, offering delicious and innovative vegetarian food choices to consumers across the country for more than 25 years. Widely recognized for vegetarian, all-natural, and convenient meal solutions, Fantastic Foods produces more than 90 products.

Fantastic Foods was founded in 1975 by Jim and Joan Rosen, starting as a small, vegetarian restaurant in Mill Valley, California. Jim Rosen, with a degree in philosophy and Montessori teaching experience, wanted to achieve two goals: provide healthy, vegetarian food while creating a socially conscious business. He aimed for quality and flavor, and soon the Rosens began selling their healthy and nourishing vegetarian specialties to stores and distributors with increasing success. Rosen later sold the restaurant and devoted himself to manufacturing the prepackaged soups and mixes that make up today's Fantastic Foods' family of products.

Customer Reviews

Delicious!5
As a previous reviewer said, one box makes a lot of falafel. It tastes great leftover though. Mine kept well in the refrigerator for a week; I sealed it in some run-of-the-mill tupperware. The mix is mildly spiced, but I think it will appeal to most palates.

A minor warning: I managed to fill my kitchen with smoke while making a batch using the broiling directions listed on the box. The instructions tell you to brush both sides of a falafel patty with olive oil and then broil them. This is all well and good, except olive oil has a very low smoke point. The falafel baked just fine for me, and it still tasted great. I made the rest of the batch using vegetable oil with no discernible difference in taste or texture. My broiler doesn't have "high" and "low" settings, so perhaps baking at a lower temperature would solve this problem.

Really tasty - will definitely make again.

Did not hold shape1
I tried to make a big batch of this and it was a complete failure. I've made Casbah brand falafel for years and NEVER had a problem. I followed the instructions properly, but when the "balls" were put into the hot oil, they completely fell apart. The "beach sand" comparison made by another reviewer was bang on. I tried to salvage the mix I had made up by making little patties and frying them in a skillet, but they fared no better. Made a good faith effort, and got inedible results. I'd love to know how anyone else followed their instructions and got them to hold together. I bought a bulk amount and have lost my money. I'm SO going back to Casbah.

Falafel???1
This thing tastes more like beach sand, than falafel. Whoever gave it a positive review probably never tried real falfel.
