Customer Reviews

A bit overpriced, but has what you might be looking for.4
In the same price range, you can find 19" monitors with 3 times the resolution and half the response time, and that fact alone almost had me wanting to return it. In fact, at a retailer which I won't mention, I saw a Samsung monitor with a 20,000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time for $209. That's just slightly more than what this costs, but offering so much more in terms features.

So why did I decide to keep this monitor? The answer is the viewable screen size. Instead of making this the typical 19" widescreen monitor that you would expect to see at the electronics store, Hyundai instead made it taller than most monitors. This not only saves desk space, which in my case is a value-adding feature of this product, but it also gives web pages an unusual amount of "breathing room."

In fact, other monitors with this kind of viewable screen size typically run in the range of $300.

One other feature I might mention is the built in speakers, which does set this monitor apart from others. But, who doesn't already have a set of computer speakers? Better yet, who doesn't already own a set of ultra-loud computer speakers that have a subwoofer which can shake the walls of any dorm room?

What Hyundai should've done instead of including speakers is put more effort into better image quality. Make no mistake: The image quality is downright pitiful compared to the competition. The bottom line is that it works. And if you're upgrading from one of those ancient, antiquated desktop monitors that weigh about 50 lbs, then this monitor will undoubtedly be a noticeable improvement -huge improvement.

But, if you're looking for a flat panel monitor that is representative of the current state of technological achievement in terms of picture quality, then be prepared to be very disappointed if you should end up choosing this monitor.

Again, I decided to keep this monitor, and that's because of the unusual yet useful screen design alone. And if that feature alone does not close the deal for you, then it's time to consider something else.

good monitor; speakers temporary use only4
Monitor is bright; no bad pixels. Control layout is reasonable. Speakers are a stopgap only until you get something decent - I found some cheaply on eBay.
