Began as "Toast of the Town" (1948-55), changed its title to "The Ed Sullivan Show" (1955-1971) The Beatles and Elvis Presley historically appeared on this variety program. "A really big shoe". "Late Show with David Letterman" (1993-Present) now broadcasts from the Ed Sullivan Theatre.

"Jack Benny" 1950-64. "Say Rochester".

"I Love Lucy" 1951-58 Later continued as "Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz comedy Hour" (1957-60) with 13 special one-hour episodes. Also appeared as "Lucy Ricardo" in "Ann Southern Show" (Season 2 ep.1), "Lucy & Ricky" in "Make Room For Daddy" (Season 6, ep.12, Jan. 5, 1959) and Milton Berle Special in 1959.

"Private Secretary" 1953-57. Later became "Ann Southern Show" (1958-61). "Susie" reran on NBC. Lucille Ball played "Lucy Richardo" on the Ann Southern Show in the first episode ("The Lucy Story") of the second season, October 5, 1959.

Gunsmoke (1955-75)Spinoff: Dirty Sally (1974). Followed by 5 tv-movies: Gunsmoke: Return to Dodge City(1987), Gunsmoke:The Last Apache(1990),Gunsmoke:To The Last Man(1992),Gunsmoke: The Long Ride(1993),Gunsmoke: One Man's Justice (1994)

After "I Love Lucy" ended in 1958. They made 13 one-hour shows only shown once then as a special in 1980's. The last episode with Ernie Kovacs & Edie Adams. Edie sings to cast having tears in their eyes. Lucy kisses Ricky, the last show ends. Lucille Ball divorced Desi Arnaz next morning. Also: Make Room For Daddy (Season 6,ep.12, Jan. 5 1959), Milton Berle Special, Nov. 1 1959, as "Lucy & Ricky".

"Twilight Zone" (1959-65). Followed by "Twilight Zone" motion picture (1983) and 2 tv series' in 1985-89, 2002-03.Leonardo DiCaprio is developing a new "Twilight Zone" movie for 2011.

"Mr. Ed" (1961-65). A horse is a horse, of course, of course. They made the horse talk by using peanut butter.

The Lucy Show (1962-67). 2 years after divorcing Desi Arnaz, Lucille Ball returns in her second tv series. Vivian Vance returned to help Lucy. Gale Gordon as "Mr. Mooney" began in Season 2. First season in black & white. Available on DVD July 21, 2009. 2nd season filmed in color but aired in black & white.

"Gilligan's Island" (1964-67).First shown in b&w and then color. They returned in three tv-movies. They were finally rescued. Rescue From Gilligan's Island (1978), The castaways on Gilligan's Island (1979), The Harlem Globetrotter's on Gilligan's Island (1981).

Mannix (1967-75). Mike Connors returned as "Mannix" in "Diagnosis Murder", episode "Hard Boiled Murder" on February 13, 1997. Also in the movie, Nobody Knows Anything! (2003).

"Here's Lucy" (1968-74). Lucille Ball returns in her third tv series with her real-life children Lucie and Desi Jr.(First appeared together in "I Love Lucy" episode, "Lucy and the Statue" in 1958). Gale Gordon as "Harry Carter". Many guest stars. Available on DVD August 25, 2009.

"Hawaii Five-O" 1968-80. "Book 'em, Danno".

"Sonny & Cher" 1971-77. In their first variety special as a married couple, after making a movie. They later divorced and then returned to work together again in a second variety tv-series.

Maude (1972-78). Starring Beatrice Arthur, Bill Macy, Adrienne Barbeau, Conrad Bain, Brian Morrison, Esther Rolle. "...and then there's Maude" "God will get you for that, Walter". Spinoff from "All in the Family" (1971-79). Maude had two spinoffs, Good Times (1974-79), Hanging In (1979).

The Waltons (1972-81). Began as Spencer's Mountain (1963), The Homecoming: A Christmas Story (1971). Returned in 6 tv-movies, A Day for Thanks on Walton's Mountain (1982),Mother's Day on Walton's Mountain (1982),A Wedding on Walton's Mountain (1982), A Thanksgiving Wedding Reunion (1993), A Walton Wedding (1995), A Walton Easter (1997).

"The Jeffersons" 1975-85. Spin-off: Florence got her own brief tv series, "Checking-In" (1981), however Marla Gibbs had a bigger hit with "227" (1985-90).

"The Incredible Hulk" (1978-82) starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. The story continued 3 tv-movies with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno returning, THE INCREDIBLE HULK RETURNS (1988), THE TRIAL OF THE INCREDILE HULK (1989), DEATH OF THE INCEDIBLE HULK (1990).

Magnum P.I. (1980-88). Tom Selleck was going to be "Indiana Jones", but it went to Harrison Ford and Tom Selleck became "Magnum P.I". Magnum P.I also appeared on Muder,She Wrote (Season 3), episode "Magnum on Ice, part 2" Magnum PI motion picture in the works for 2011.

"Murder, She Wrote" (1984-96). Returned in 4 tv-movies, Murder She Wrote: South By Southwest (1997), Murder She Wrote: A Story To Die For (2000), Murder She Wrote: The Last Free Man (2001), Murder She Wrote: The Celtic Riddle (2003).
