Customer Reviews

CPO = Heavily Used1
I got my first unit of this Makita drill and it arrived with a rusty spindle and a mangled chuck to the extent it wasn't clear if it could hold a drill bit. The package came with a friendly note that all returns would be at my expense and an address it could be shipped to.
I called Makita and explained that paying them to return this pawnshop grade condition tool was not an option and they sent me another unit out and a return label for the other one. (In their defense the customer service rep was very nice on the phone) This drill was not rusty at least but the chuck was badly gouged as well. The LED on this drill also couldn't serve as a nightlight, so don't expect that to be useful. Apparently Makita's factory reconditioned tools mean they are end of life used tools in a new plastic case.
If you want a good CPO tool buy Milwaukee or DeWalt.

Makita Hammer Drill5
I don't often find the need for a hammer drill with my home projects but I did need one to install a closet flange into a concrete basement floor and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a tool I would hardly use. The reconditioned unit came as any new unit with a case, manual, depth guide, and side grip. Included was a registration certificate and a one year warranty with a 30 day trial period. It came in near new condition and it performed flawlessly. It shipped and sold by CPO Makita. I'm quite happy with my purchase.

Weak Chuck on Drill3
The only problem I have had is the bits will slip in this type of chuck. The other type that has a key to tighten the bit is much more secure.
