Album Description
Bucky Covington was a finalist in the 5th season of American Idol, where he went on to win the heartsof the American public, finishing 8th on the show. Originally from Rockingham, North Carolina, Bucky's long journey to national attention began where he and his identical twin Rocky were born. Drawn early to country music, Covington was a fan of Tim McGraw, George Strait, and Travis Tritt, among others. After getting his first guitar at age 19, he claimed local fame with the country/southern rock cover band Southern Thunder. He says his style of music is "country, with as much rock in it as I can get away with."

The fifth-season American Idol finalist has a Nashville record deal, and his talents have traction. Bucky Covington's gravel-rough, expressive voice is sufficiently flexible to handle a wide spectrum of material. His flair for a light touch comes through on the Mark Nesler/Marty Dodson tune "I'm Good" and the pleasant "A Different World." Regrettably, he often has a tough row to hoe, since in the case of material and arrangements, producer Mark Miller (of Sawyer Brown fame) has simply thrown him onto Music Row's insidious studio assembly line. Covington gamely pours his heart into a sheaf of predictable songs, from the sentimental bathos of "I'll Walk" to "The Bible and the Belt" and "Back When We Were Gods," the types of generic heartland tunes sung so often by so many in the past decade that they no longer feel fresh or compelling. Musically, Miller wraps Covington in a sterile, studio version of Travis Tritt-style southern rock that robs him of any sort of distinctive style. American Idol is a difficult road, even for the Carrie Underwoods who ultimately come out on top. One who got as close as Covington did, with his potential, deserves better. --Rich Kienzle

INCREDIBLE ALBUM!5
I downloaded "A different World" the minute it was available and never gave a thought to the rest of this album until driving home one night I heard "I'll Walk" that song was so beautiful I decided to check out the rest of the album. Every song in fantastic, if was possible to "wear out" a CD, this one would be, because it has been played NON STOP, with certain songs like "Carolina Blue" being repeated at least 4 times.

Great CD. Bucky has a unique singing voice that makes all the songs sound great. Love hearing the CD and hope to see another one real soon.

I just love this song and can relate to it so much. It's like everything I remember about my childhood. And it's so cool I just love the way Buckey sounds when he sings this song. Can't wait to here more of his music. Good Luck!!!! Lisa
