A new series begins, collecting the complete adventures of Green Lantern from his earliest appearances in the late 1950s in chronological order as they originally appeared.
The adventures begin with the origin of Earth's Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, as he inherits the power ring of his fallen predecessor, Abin Sur. Before long, Green Lantern faces strange foes from lost worlds, as well as the deadly Weaponers of Qward, and starts to unravel the mysteries of his own Power Battery.

Color makes all the difference
If you're like me and don't want to pay a premium for DC's Archive line of books, and dislike reading the Showcase Presents books in black and white, the Chronicles line is perfect.
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) gets his own 'Chronicles' book with this volume. These are the first stories of the Silver Age Green Lantern, revamping the legend for a younger generation (back in the 60's)
This volume contains
Showcase 22-24
Green Lantern 1-3
Six issues for $14.99 retail is a good price (especially good with Amazon's discount), the reproductions are nice. The pages and colors are crisp, not glossy, closer to the originals.
It's nice to see a third hero get added to the Chronicles line, and a fourth is coming in the fall with the Flash. Hopefully DC keeps this line going.
Green Lantern classics in affordable format at last!
It was about time that DC did the right thing by its Green Lantern fans and for Flash fans as well by re-releasing these comics in color!
Another reviewer read my mind. The hardbound "Archives" for the longest time were the only places one could find these old classics in their original color format. The black and white versions were an insult! How would anyone like to see a black and white version of "2001: A Space Odyssey?" That's the same absurdity when color comics are re-issued in black and white.
On the other hand, who but working adults could handle [...] bucks per comic color anthologies? This format is not only reasonably priced but the copy is phenomenal. I remember reading just about every one of these stories back in the day and trading and/or lending them to friends. That was the last I saw of my comics.
With these affordable re-releases one can re-live the excitement of those by-gone days. Can DC now re-release "My Greatest Adventures," "Strange Adventures," etc., in color in this same affordable, color format?
As for the stories, what can I say? Hal Jordan is selected by a myterious race of beings to patrol this quadrant of the galaxy. He has a time limit of 24 hours to re-charge his ring with his green lantern or he is in a world of trouble. And there are sinister and powerful forces abroad trying to steal the lantern.
Is Green Lantern an updated version of the Lone Ranger for the late 20th century? You bet!
DC, keep those Chronicles comin'...
Chronicles
This was a good book. I finished it faster than the other chronicles books the stories where simple but fun. it was a good book.
