Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
Comic Book Resources:

"WHITEOUT: MELT stars Carrie Stetko again, who is talked into taking on one more case at the South Pole. It's a quick and dirty operation, it holds certain promises, and it goes very wrong. This book is much more action/adventure-oriented than the first mini-series. It moves quickly, without hesitation, and carries you through the narrative with tension, suspense, and action."

iComics:

"One of the real draws to Whiteout books is the main character, Carrie Stetko. You never stop believing in her, be it reuniting with friends or facing off in a collapsed base. She thinks like a real person, acts like a real person, and looks like a real person."

The Definitive Edition5
"Whiteout" and its sequel "Whiteout: Melt" stand out as classics of the independent comics scene from the late 1990s. The original mini-series was Greg Rucka's breakout hit, leading to his great runs on "Batman: No Man's Land," "Gotham Central," and other notable DC comics.

The most notable change for this "Definitive Edition" is the new 6 x 9 inches digest size; the original series was printed at a slightly larger 10 x 7.5 inches. The artwork is also newly re-scanned and cleaned up. According to publisher Randy Oni, "We relied on a third party vendor to scan all the boards [originally]. As a result of not having a tight control over digital production, many of the pages scanned dirtier than we would have liked. Too many old pencil marks showed up... Some of the images were actually scanned at too low of a resolution. So, we rescanned the pages we could [for the Definitive Edition]. I then spent about 60 hours cleaning up every page, pixel by pixel in Photoshop... Also, Steve did some touch ups here and there."

If you haven't read the "Whiteout" series, now is the time to hop on board before the movie (starring Kate Beckinsale) and the third mini-series ("Whiteout: Thaw") are released in 2008.
