Customer Reviews

Hilarious series, heartily recommended5
Aaron Williams is an highly talented comic artist with a flair for comical situations. The theme "school for superheroes" is not the easiest to tackle without making it childish or too "superhero" and the PS238 series does this very well. The characters are fun, endearing and it's easy to feel connected to them. The inclusion of Tyler, a kid whose superhero parents are convinced he will eventually develop superpowers, is a stroke of genius in this. He is the main connection to the stories for the readers. While readers of all ages can enjoy the books (even if you don't like superhero stories) the stories are of such a level they are best understood by older public.

Higly recommended for the fun the book brings.

PS238 is potentially the best comic book series for all-ages readers about young costumed heroes (and villains). If you have a new reader interested in comics, superheroes and good characters, you have found your pot of gold in this title. If you have an old, jaded fan of comics, you have the same. Makes for a great gift for fans of science fiction, drama and humor. The best of recommendations for people that enjoy sharing with their children.

Williams juggles a bit too much3
Aaron Williams continues the compilations of his PS238 comic series with "Not Another Learning Experience" (consisting of issues 16-21, but no small bonus comics in this volume). It's a somewhat idiosyncratic compilation - it finishes the storyline at the end of the last volume, juggles a number of short storylines and time-travel tie ins, and starts a new, several-issue storyline that forms the next volume.

In fact, he's juggling a little too much here - issue 18, for example, essentially introduces two new characters while handling parts of two storylines from other issues and adding capstones to another two. While Williams can handle a lot at once - it can even work better that way, as it did in "No Child Left Behind" - this volume does end up weaker than the last as a result.

Which isn't to say Williams has lost his touch - he hasn't; the comic remains funny and the character developments in the large cast keep moving, even if the plot crowds them both out once in a while. If you started the series, keep with it.
