In more than 80 essays, newspaper columnist and life coach Carolyn Scarborough shows us how to instantly transform everyday life into an adventure by finding our pearls - moments of beauty, wisdom and joy. She says we don't have to travel far to find them. All we need to make us happy is right in our own backyards, tucked away in everyday activities such as packing school lunches or washing the dog. It's simply a matter of waking up to what's precious in every moment. With humor and compassion, she reveals how to appreciate whatever shows up. even if it leaves muddy footprints on the kitchen floor.

Customer Reviews
Wise sage, mother, friend
The author of this book reminds me very much of an Erma Bombeck of our time. She is wise, yet practical. She provides us with a common lense to view our experiences. She reminds us that no matter if we are professionals, stay-at-home moms, or some hybrid of the two, we all struggle from the same challenges. At the core, we are women...complex, challenged, and from whom much is required. This book is a joy!
LIving and Laughing
Carolyn Scarborough takes everyday occurrences and turns them into meaningful events. I laugh out loud reading these stories because they are so familiar. I pick up this book whenever I need to remember my job as a mom is important and day to day happenings are as significant as a more exciting lifestyle. Ms. Scarborough is everywoman writing to and for every woman.
Inspirational and Reflective
I started spending a few minutes each morning reading one of these short essays. The essays provide a wonderful way to begin the day with a fresh perspective. The author, Carolyn, helps me put my priorities in perspective and find meaning in the what can seem like the simplest occurences in life. Her essays are thoughtful without being preachy and her humor (mostly at her own expense) opens the door to finding the humor in your own growing pains. She takes a very gentle approach to challenging the reader to look at things in his/her life differently and embrace the gifts life has to offer. I recommend this for anyone who welcomes self reflection without the harsh judgement.
