Customer Reviews

Does the job...but could be better3
The good:

1) Cradle can charge an extra battery in addition to the iPaq;

2) It has plenty of LEDs to tell you charge status of your iPaq, spare battery, and USB communication between cradle and your computer;

3) It works.

The bad:

1) There is potential to damage your iPaq. As you slide your iPaq into the cradle, there are no guides that ensure your iPaq's sync and USB ports line up with the ports on the cradle. If you just put your iPaq into the cradle, it won't fit and will need to manually nudged. If you use any force when putting your iPaq into the cradle, the ports won't line up and could scratch, or do worse, to your iPaq.

2) The cradle is too light.

3) Overpriced. This cradle, given the little bit it does, should be half the price.

It gets the job done...but could be better. Cradle feels cheap.

Update: 3/14/09
The power adapter for the cradle no longer works with the cradle. Loading a PDA onto the cradle has been hit or miss. Sometimes, the PDA doesn't line up with the cradle and there is a chance of damaging both the PDA and the cradle.

This cradle is really bad. I can't believe I spent $50 for it. I've stopped using it.

Don't bother1
I bought this unit last week and I wish I hadn't. There are no guides when sliding in your iPaq, the charger causes a HUGE amount of interference to ANY near by radio and my Sync cuts out a lot with this unit. There is noting I can say on the pro side, it is simply a piece of junk. Don't waste your monry.

Too risky for iPaq 211 Damage1
The iPaq 211 has a pair of sockets that must align with this cradle. Unlike the relatively robust single socket of the iPaq 4700, two sockets present a delicate alignment problem for any cradle. If the alignment is not just right, the sockets on your 211 can be damaged. If that happens, you are looking at a $200 motherboard replacement regardless of when you bought your unit (HP's warranty assumes physical damage is the customer's fault regardless of when it occurs - not a result of a poor, unnecessarily risky design.
The real problem, of course, is the iPaq 211 itself - HP's own cable can present the same risk if you do not depress the buttons on either side of the connector to retract the prongs when removing the cable. I have thrown my cradle out after buying one new motherboard.
