Product Description

Jack has always asserted that his BDSM experiences are based in his spirituality and here, in his newest book, he brings his spiritual philosophy to life. Philosophy in the Dungeon, The Magic of Sex & Spirit approaches spirituality with Jack's uniquely kinky perspective, including historically, psychologically, and yes, physically. Jack s system is holistic, based on extensive study, his most intimate experiences, and common sense. He approaches topics such as prayer, magic, and faith with modest confidence and rescues these concepts from their usual stereotypical meaning and misunderstood dogmatism. He encourages those looking for more significance in their kinky lifestyle to embrace an individualized spiritual path and to shed dogmatic approaches to spirituality that have only too often shamed people into denying their authentic selves.

The "Connectedness" of All Things4
Jack Rinella's latest book to delve into the personal relations of the D/s universe is not totally unlike an amusement park ride. You slowly are towed up a long incline, waiting, anticipating something exciting will happen. You know that the rush will come. You already feel a certain adrenal burst on the brink. When the pull chain finally lets go of the cart and you go screaming down that hill, it's one of the finest feelings in the world; but you just wish it didn't take so darn long to hit the pinnacle.

Which expresses a lot of how I felt reading "Philosophy In The Dungeon." Jack goes into great amounts of detail about different religions, philosophies, mysticism and "The Many Ways Of Knowing" for the first five chapters. It is a dry, academic excersize to absorb and digest, and may require a few doublebacks as you attempt to take it all in. Then, once the sixth chapter entitled "Unity" arrives, Jack allows more personal details to infiltrate his information. Suddenly you get the insight into how he arrives at these statements, and the book becomes engaging. You get pulled over the tipping point and the thrill kicks in.

As Jack begins to describe his personal journey and the gamut of emotions he's experienced in the process thus far, "Philosophy In The Dungeon" broadens its appeal. What started out as dry college textbook material becomes more connected and understandable. While I still personally feel that "Partners in Power: Living in Kinky Relationships" remains Jack's best book to date, "Philosophy In The Dungeon" peels back the black leathers to take a look towards the inner light that many of us in Power Exchange situations search for and what guides the author during his continuing "process of life."

One man's spiritual journey4
This book reveals the life time journey of Jack Rinella as a spiritual man but only to this point in his life. His overall message is that we change and therefore healthy spirituality should be changing in some ways. I don't think this is Rinella's best book and I have issues with the historical chapter as well as his long quotations throughout the book. However, if you have read his other books you'll find more useful information based on his own life and his heartful and passionate encouragement for you to look into leading a more spiritual life yourself. While it may be most assessible to those in the leather or BDSM communities it is not limited to these groups and in fact may not be understandable to everyone in these groups.

Memorable epistle from Jack to the Leather Nation5
After reading excerpts of this new book by Jack Rinella during IML weekend, I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my copy which UPS delivered today. I spent the day savoring its content as an honest testimony of how sex and spirituality are reunited in leathersex and D/s relationships. Jack's words will be the subject of meditation and re-reading for weeks and months to come, I'm sure.
