Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1
Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 offers a number of handy features that make searching through email, editing Microsoft Office documents, and staying on top of your most important communications even easier. Emails can now be viewed in their original rich HTML format and now offer the ability to visit embedded links. It also includes Windows Live for Windows Mobile, which provides a full set of Windows Live services, such as the Windows Live Messenger IM application, which now enables you to chat with more than one person at one time or send a file.
With Windows Mobile 6.1, your phone will finally be able to emulate the power and features of your PC's Microsoft Office suite. You'll be able to neatly view, navigate and edit Word documents and Excel spreadsheets in their original formatting--without affecting tables, images or text--as well as view PowerPoint presentations.
- Microsoft Office Word Mobile features include spell-check, Find and Replace commands, bulleted lists, text formatting, and support for tables for the first time.
- With Excel Mobile, you're not just confined to editing charts: with the new Chart Wizard you can create charts quickly and easily.
- PowerPoint Mobile allows you to view the full presentation, rehearse timings, check the order and any live links you may have in your presentation. You can then email comments back to the team or communicate via MSN Messenger for an immediate response.
- After creating or editing a Word document or Excel spreadsheet, you can synchronize it with your PC and it will automatically be converted to the PC version.
All Windows Mobile 6.1 powered devices include Direct Push Technology for up-to-date e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization of Outlook calendars, tasks and contacts through Microsoft Exchange Server. It also offers a set of important device security and management features that include the capability to remotely wipe all data from a device should it be lost or stolen, helping ensure that confidential information remains that way.
Customer Reviews
love the phone
I've had this phone for a week now and am seriously tempted to sell my Tilt. The only thing is, there is no replacement for a big touchscreen for long periods of web surfing.
This phone is great. It feels expensive, not cheap and plastic. The controversial keys work great for my big thumbs. I never press the wrong key. Rocker buttons on the side work fine.
Screen is beautiful. Much better looking than the screen on my Tilt, but then most touchscreens lose a little clarity with the touch sensitive layer over it. The screen is not as nice as some of Nokia's phones, like my 6300 which is 16 million colors and gorgeous. But 65000 colors is pretty common and it looks very good. Even in sunlight, which is a huge PITA compared to the Tilt which is absolutely unreadable in sunlight.
The menus are nice, this phone came with WM6.1 which has a great home screen. Intuitive and very easy to use. All the apps are well thought out.
The phone has a great signal and also has the trademark Motorola LOUD AND CLEAR earpiece. I'm really tired of phones like my 6300 that make it impossible to hear someone if there is any noise around you. The speakerphone is also plenty loud and clear.
If I had to name a negative, and I don't really want to, it's the goofy port. Requires an adapter to plug into the usb port on the computer. And you can't use your old Motorola chargers since the plug end is different. But that is certainly no reason to stay away from this phone.
I would buy it again in a second, no hesitation.
Don't forget to search for windows mobile youtube apps, they work great and the videos look much, MUCH better than on iphones and blackberrys.
Love it, love it, love it
First of all, I should mention that this is my first smart phone, and the first time in years I have not had pre-paid cell service through Virgin Mobile. This was a big change for me, but so far it has been worth it.
PROS:
*The phone itself is easy to use. Even with no prior smartphone experience, I figured out all the features except one inside of an hour. *The phone sound quality is better than I have experienced on other phones, and I appreciate having a quad band world phone for travels.
*The email set-up was super easy for my personal account, and the GPS through the downloadable Google Maps works great. It even gives real-time traffic.
*The QWERTY keyboard is responsive. I don't make nearly as many spelling mistakes as I thought I would.
*Screen clarity is very good; I was surprised how clear everything is on such a small, relatively low-resolution screen.
*The camera and video are intuitive, and picture quality is fine, given the camera. The flash on the camera doubles as an awesome flashlight.
*I have no problem opening attachments to email (even .pdf, which reviewers of the previous version of this phone had mentioned was at times problematic).
*Coverage area is best I've ever had on a cell phone. I get 3G signal at home (previous phone couldn't get any signal at all), and have yet to drop a call.
*Web browsing is easy.
CONS:
*No one-touch mute of the ringer, and no way to adjust volume on the fly as far as I can tell. You have to navigate through menus to get to volume.
*Battery life is short, but it does come with an extended life battery.
*I haven't figured out a way to type numbers without using the function key. This adds a step to every number you want to type.
*The back lighting is not very helpful in low light situations. I wish I could make it brighter, or change it from blue back light to white.
On the whole, this is a phenomenal phone. I can't recommend it enough. I've been able to move from carrying a huge paper planner, cell phone with lousy coverage and iPod to just my Moto Q9h. That alone makes the cost worth it in my opinion. Mentally and physically, I feel lighter and less bogged carrying around so much stuff.
Great Phone for Starters and Pros
This phone is amazing, it can do anything any Blackberry can do and more! It is user friendly and durable. Only thing might be the size of the phone, but that is because it can store and do anything from connecting to the internet to playing music and taking videos. I highly recommended! Also get a leather protection case for it, it helps if it falls.
